I just looked it up and the 2025 winter solstice is tomorrow, Sunday, December 21st, and my daylight tracking app says tomorrow will still be 2 seconds shorter than today.

But a happy solstice to you all, and congratulations on making it halfway through the darkness, and may everyday be brighter, if not warmer, yet.

So, the express purpose of CEOs is to kiss ass and manipulate dictators, anything to get sweetheart deals and increase 'shareholder value' aka make rich people richer?

I guess we had previously been suckers in the US by trying to elect competent and fair leaders, stupid us. All our CEOs were not earning their ridiculous salaries, yet they were still getting paid rim job money.

Minimum wage should be indexed to the maximum wage.

Probably to the average of the top quartile. Ranked by state. My state has an income tax, so the data is already out there.

Private sector raises top wages, the government makes them raise the minimum wage of their workers. Low to average wage workers are the economic engines of the community, not international hoarders.

Mega wealthy might move overseas? So they wouldn't be interfering in local politics? Don't threaten me with a good time.

Thinking about this, because I have had to accept some hard choices and some of the people involved believe that stressing me will make me do things.

I'm autistic. Stressing me is not a motivator. If anything it makes me freeze up. Is this an Autistic response, or an everybody response? And if everybody works worse when stressed, why is it the first thing anybody uses to try and motivate people?

We now know, that if someone is an ignorant, arrogant, apathetic narcissist they can go completely senile and continue to ramble nonsensically with vigor and confidence, because they never had any self doubt, nor did the reaction of the audience mater in any way, all along.

Their ranting, with a mind full of holes, is indistinguishable to themselves from who they already were.

    Fascinating and dreadful.

@georgetakei not seating a new Representative and playing with the days the House is in session is practice for January 2027 after the midterms.

I wonder if Johnson has the balls to push this one all the way to the supreme court now to see what kind of precedent he can set?

What kind of dirt could the Trump team, and specifically the CIA, have on SCOTUS members and Johnson to have them so thoroughly by the balls?

@grammasaurus @roknrol agreed. But I still hope that people can be motivated to be saved. Otherwise, what do we do? Just kill them?

Dealing with Trump's many crimes at an earlier point is a much better and more serious use of the justice system than irrecoverably ruining the lives of black drug addicts.

Democrats have been ineffective and every person who thinks voting isn't worth it was right as long as rich criminals like Trump can avoid correction.

    For hope we need justice.

Trump is a pampered rich guy, yet he believes he is surrounded by a world full of enemies. Yet all we wanted for him is to stop being so arrogant and stupid.

@roknrol I would prefer something so ironic that it makes most Christians think that God has a limit.

I edited it to make it clear that there was a point where we would have all settled for him just being better. That was the theme of his first term - can this spoiled man learn to be better with all the resources of the United States. Before we learned that he raped children.

    • Dr. Dan Killam

@dantheclamman In Oregon people are required to fill in their holes after digging. The clams they missed get re-covered, and the clams under where they dumped their sand do not suffocate. But I would say that 30% of people do not even do that.

Clamming is widely considered a tourist activity, and people assume that it just magically takes care of itself. It mostly does, but places where humans harvest need a little care to make up for that.

Thanks. I am glad I could share my experience.

Many people who tell you "think outside the box" don't know how the box works.

Learning the magic, ambiguous words that could be anything is easy, reading the box instructions is hard and requires space in the brain to admit you don't know something. Mastering the box and then expanding what is good in it to beyond the box walls is hardest and rarest of all.

    Follow mastery.

Okay..., so we have already passed peak Google Search?

All those companies that kept optimizing their pages, SEO, to rank higher in search results are now freaking out because sometimes people will just settle for AI telling them a quick answer. And that AI read their page once 2 years ago and isn't going back unless prompted to?

I think recommended links from friends on social media just leaped up in relevance by 200%.

The President is supposed to 'execute' the laws he is given. That is why he has 'executive power'.

The president should not be writing laws, or more specifically, signing things that are treated like they have the power of laws. And the Supreme Court is supposed to be ruling on when these other branches are trespassing on each others' authority.

Why am I having to teach these so called 'constitutional originalists' their effing job?!

A sheriff doesn't write the laws, he enforces them. Makes sure they are implemented. If a Sheriff sat around all day making up new laws to interfere whereever he wanted we would recognize him as an incompetent asshole, and somebody would strip him of that job, and more people would investigate if he committed any crimes by doing things he is not authorized to do. And some abuses would be prosecuted. And the Sheriff was elected, but that does not make him divine.

    Is anybody getting this analogy?

If the Supreme Court believes that the President can do any fucking thing, then what is the point of having a legislature that has to build coalitions and make compromises and craft bills?

Go to the President, complain, maybe hand him a little graft, he signs an executive order to do the thing. Zero legislative input.

Does the Supreme Court think 535 people travel to DC to be decorative?

    Fuck, this is stupid!!

In the event that another country thinks that it will be in their best interest for the US to be self involved in a nuclear terrorist incident, perhaps China if they begin attacking Taiwan, or Russia or North Korea, they will just give Iranians a nuclear bomb, and probably help them on finding a way to use it.

Dmitriy Medvedev, ex president of Russia and current Deputy Chairman of the Security Council of Russia since 2020, he's suggested as much on Twitter/X.

I'm an oldish autistic, which blessed me with the ability to think clearly and write well. I'm also a secular humanist and I think God is too. Never doubt the power of irony.I boost pictures of animals, plants, structures, landscapes, water (always water, and boats!) but right now it is mostly politics - the threats to everything good can not be underestimated. I would like to go back to writing about obscure kites as soon as the deeply stupid people are out of power. Please help.
