   After strong reactions from both Greenland and Denmark, the US now scales down the Greenland visit.

   Originally, Vice President JD Vance and Second Lady Usha were supposed to see tourist sites and take part in local events, but the program has now been changed to the couple only visiting their own military base in northern Greenland.

   “Look darling! Canned food! Isn’t that something?”

   — That’s the hospitality you get from acting like complete idiots.

     @Finitum @randahl I heard today, on NPR, that they already delivered the bullet proof cars BEFORE the visit was changed.

     The Trump administration is amateur hour. The Danes sounded absolutely flummoxed that foreign dignitaries of the level of vice president would travel to the territory of a foreign country and tour around without arranging it with that country's government. Letting the Weirds tour a base was the diplomatic alternative to expelling them or denying them landing rights.

     @randahl is the US still spending >$1mil USD to charter the plane required for their bulletproof cars as cargo?
     Is that efficient use of taxpayers money? Wasteful?
