1'400 days since an unknown infection in the beginning of March 2020, it sounded suspiciously like #COVID19, but there were no tests yet and then this shit never got better, in fact kept getting worse, seems to me this is #LongCOVID, but the fucking asshole doctors won't even grant me a fucking diagnosis, instead these assholes keep gaslighting me and since then have started to take the piss by normalizing a disease that often feels worse than death.
When @linuzifer speaks about what gives him hope - to be or live the solution - and then claims that the congress is an example of this, to me this feels like a stab in the back. Because your "lived solution" excludes people like me, and as such is an ableist version of the world, one that excludes people (like myself) from participating. Not once during #37C3 (i didn't listen to all talks, but) have i heard a speaker address our exclusion or greet those warmly, who were forced to stay remote.
@MediaActivist My FOMO is strong, so of course when EVERYONE, even some anarchists i respected, started to rave or at least opine about those two fucking movies, of course i wanted to see them. But since zero streaming options and only terrible screener torrents were available, this also meant ALL OF THEM had been to an actual movie theater and risked getting infected for these shite films. Well, they could have in theory watched the screeners. But.
"Von erfahrenen Zeremonienmeistern wird Euch hier der notwendige Schwung verpasst, geschmeidig durch den Congress zu gleiten und die Vorfreude zu atmen"
I think the time for these large gatherings crammed into one venue is over. It is time to switch to decentralized forms of getting together with the help of streaming networks. Think of how easy diseases will spread in huge gatherings. Think of the carbon footprint of all these people flying there. Think of all the responsibility & power piled onto a core group of organizers. But also think of all the people that get excluded. Small gatherings can be much better geared to specific needs. #37c3
My disappointment that this crowd in Hamburg fell into this "back to normal" obsession, pushing for that huge gathering, and despite the fact that COVID-infection numbers are huge at the moment, almost worldwide, is also because i am convinced that this crowd could so easily have conceived and planned wonderful decentralized events. They have the technological know-how, they understand data, they have the right attitude (all creatures are welcome). Plus they always joked about "Kongress-seuche".
@MediaActivist Yeah, those movies were meh. I was thoroughly underwhelmed. When i was finally allowed to see them, that is. What struck me the most was that they were the must-see movies *drumroll* IN CINEMAS ONLY. They were the must-see movies bullying everyone back into the movie theaters, no streaming options available until many months later. For those of us who for health or social anxiety reasons need or want to avoid cinemas, this meant we were sidelined by their marketing.
We try to make this day as normal as possible. But we still cook something nice. For our small unit of two. We are at least that lucky. So many are not.
If this wasn't during an ongoing pandemic, our health and our lives not in danger, we would cook more food and invite people. It's warm here. The food will be awesome.
We grieve for all the pain in the world. For what could have been. The wars that keep going. The planet we destroy. Our tears will drop into the food we wish we could share.
It's just a Monday. Keep breathing. It's just a normal Monday. But also. It's not. People do gather. Yes, they gather in dysfunctional constructs they call families. But, no one invited us in a way that made us feel safe to attend. They gaslit-invited us. They knew we would decline. Not choose to. Need to. They heaped the blame on us. It's up to us now to feel abandoned and guilty at the same time. That was their generous gift to us. For their so-called celebration of love. Or hypocrisy.
