Ok, my nerd hat is on! Non-programming followers can skip this one.

For the others, if you've heard the terms "memory leak" and "memory safety" and never been entirely clear about what they mean, here is a video for you.

    https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OcQgBeEyxyc

In which @BrodieOnLinux live draws diagrams and talks you through the concepts and possibilities.

Even if you program in languages like Python, you will get value in knowing the background of all the talk (and some arguments).

    Top stuff!

@_elena as others have already offered so will I. Some of us have become very skilled at finding answers and resources. On good days that includes finding guides pitched at a level that suits the asker, though that's often the harder challenge.

p.s. your mention of yunohost was a great trigger for me to reconsider self-hosting so I already owe you one. I used to muck about with such things 20 years ago (PHPnuke that some may recall) so you're inspiring old hacks as well as newbies.

@mekkaokereke and as a bonus some have been in the same organization for decades and can recite not only most of the sequential system changes but take a fair stab at why each happened (technically, bureaucratically, politically).

Caveats: I nearly put "economically" in that list, but can't pretend that's ever a top level concern. Ditto "productivity".

@liztai I had a hunch about why you posted that. Checking Wikipedia:
"At the present time, Malaysia has the world's highest per capita consumption of Milo, Singapore coming second."

@liztai well, to prove my own ignorance, after checking I see the recent meeting in Melbourne was a "ASEAN-Australia" Summit - which is to say a meeting of ASEAN with Australia.
i.e not Australia as part of ASEAN
While that somewhat makes my point, it's not quite how I wanted to.
Side note, I was walking to my office last week and was briefly prevented crossing a road by an ASEAN police escort on route to the meeting venue.

@liztai interesting that despite many years of knowing about ASEAN my mind doesn't do well at listing the countries in it. Being Australian it's easy to know that we're in it, and Indonesia and Malaysia seems obvious, but after those I'm guessing (probably well but that is geography not knowledge).
At the risk of being glib, I suspect that's representative of the Australian viewpoint re the region: we know we're in it, feel we're important but hazy on the specifics.

@array @clacke all the more reason to see its position as a very good prototyping language. Perfect for demonstrating what the final program should do, much of how it can work and good enough to use until the "production" replacement is completed.
