@augustus I can respect that ranking. I always kinda disliked Gilmour, he's a talented guitarist, but his songwriting is boring as hell. Barrett was the most creative of all of them, acid or no acid; it's a shame he went nuts, but we can't change the past. Waters was also very good, if a bit of an egomaniac; although I have to respect him for his anti-war, anti-Zionism, and pro-Assange activism, he's a standup guy.
@augustus Oh... I like Meddle... :cooldog: The reason I ask is because Pink Floyd had so many changes in creative direction over almost 60 years, that you could easily argue that the name can refer to effectively five different bands (as well as a couple glorified Roger Waters and David Gilmour solo albums, The Final Cut and The Endless River respectively). A lot of people who don't care for Dark Side of the Moon really like the Early Syd Barrett Stuff (Piper at the Gates of Dawn, etc; which is my favorite PF album for the record), some people think Atom Heart Mother is pretentious cow shit (pun intended), others consider it a masterpiece. But I get that it's not for everyone, and PF as a whole has gotten way way too overrated in recent years. "Patrician," music types have latched onto it as the "new Beatles" in recent years, and it's poisoned the well something bad, so I get it.
@xianc78 Goodwill, and other consignment stores, used to kick ass back in the day before Instagram and all the hipsters made "thrifting" a thing. I used to be able to buy *really* nice clothes for next to nothing, retro games consoles for a fraction of Ebay prices, rare/expensive records, all kinds of cool shit. Now everyone knows about it, and they price accordingly, or things'll just get stolen, like so. End of an era... :oldsnake:
@lina@mushroom_soup Absolutely based description. I also like this one, which I feel encapsulates the "evil circus," vibe of the level well without coming off as too try-hardy (also pops into my head from time to time). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbaAWPZZIb0
@lina@mushroom_soup The vehicles are useless of the most part, and I will gladly admit that the "Kill all of X" missions were pretty grating to me, even back in the day, but other then that I will go to bat for the gameplay of Shadow being no worse than the Shadow/Sonic stages of Sonic Adventure 2, and it stands tall above '06 and Sonic Boom. Also I think the game's whole "tree-based" mission structure was pretty unique and ambitious considering how many different "paths" you can take through the game. This will also never stop being funny to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPCs6mNzUGQ
@lina@mushroom_soup Shadow the Hedgehog was one of my favorite games as a kid and it wasn't until I got older that I learned people didn't like it. As an adult I can rationalize that yeah, it's not a great example of game design/level degin/etc.; but the audience for that game wasn't adults in their thirties with IKEA bookshelves behind them, it was hyperactive 11 year old boys who want to see a cartoon hedgehog say soft-core curse words and shoot things with a GUN. I was one of those in 2005, and I am not sorry for that.
@Weeble I have a soft spot for Betty and Veronica, putting those kinds of lesbian overtones in a comic of that era either took some serious guts, or was just a very amusing accident.
@Weeble They could probobly have comfortably played it off as a gag at the time, but the subtext was pretty blatant. They ever hook up in that live action Riverdale thing? I could never get into it...
@LukeAlmighty@applejack@beardalaxy I don't know, I'm pro-choice and pro-Trans rights and stuff, it's the "pushing stuff on children,' part that bothers me. Adults, or even older teenagers, choosing to transition doesn't really pose an issue in my mind. And I've always been constantly pro-choice, even when I was a "Paleo-Conservative," that was my "exception issue," even then.
@LukeAlmighty@applejack@beardalaxy :02_shrug: I guess I did answer very consistently in favor of individual freedom EG: Strongly disagree toward Homosexuality being immoral; Strongly agree that Individuals have absolute rights to bodily autonomy no matter what; Strongly disagree that religion is necessary for morality; All the "fuck cops" answers in the positive; etc. This is a trend I've been noticing of me going left on a lot of things ever since I determined I was actually straight. Weird how that's worked, guess I'm just a contrarian by my nature.
