@Terry Conservatives were always filthy shills for Israel and Zionism, all that crap about them pretending to be pro-free speech and anti-war was trash from minute one. And I genuinely question the intelligence of any person who harbored anything but absolute disdain for Loomer.
@DW2 Well Dubya was an evil, warmongering, NWO, coke head who was at least complicit, if not directly involved with 9/11. When modern libs compare him favorably to Trump, it makes me sick; Trump ain't perfect, but he was infinitely better for America than Bush was (or his bastard father for that matter).
@hj@Moon I don't know, I feel like he kinda staked his whole career on that movie being his big break into the "real," movie industry. When it didn't do that, and he wasn't able to make a career change to being a full-time film director, which I think is what he's always wanted, I think that flew a lot of the wind out of his sails. Could be wrong, I don't know the guy, but that's the reading I always got.
@mrman 100% True. Also, fun fact: Stonewall Jackson freed his slaves before the war had even started, meanwhile Grant kept his Slaves during the war by moving them to Texas. I'm not going to start another thread about the nuances of the civil war because every time I do I get into a slap fight and/or lose friends; I will instead direct you to some books: "When in the Course of Human Events," by Charles Adams, and "The Real Lincoln," by Thomas DeLorenzo, those are a good start, and they're written by men much smarter and more articulate then me.

The Shitposter Formerly Known as IndigoGot bored today so I decided to walk downtown (which I can do now that I no longer live in a car dependent hell city) and see if anything was happening locally for Labor Day. There wasn't really, but the record store *was* open, so that means it's time for #indigoswax Today I got very lucky, and managed to find exactly one of albums I was hoping to find, and that was this original pressing of Brian Eno's 1974 Masterpiece: Taking Tiger Mountain (By Strategy). Brian Eno I feel needs no introduction, but for the sake of formality he was a musician specializing in synth and experimental/art rock who started his music career in the early 70's as a member of Roxy Music (which happens to be one of my favorite bands), and went onto have a very prolific career both as a solo musician and as a producer and collaborator, most famously with David Bowie during his "Berlin," era from 1977-78, as well as with U2, Cluster, Robert Fripp, and many many more. This was his second album as a solo act, and it's largely a stylistic continuation of "Here Come the Warm Jets," another classic. It's great, nothing more to say. My favorite track is probobly "The True Wheel," but the whole albums one big highlight, it's an all killer, no filler affair, and I'm very happy to have a vinyl copy in such good condition. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FByM0r-VOLc
@olmitch@coolboymew It's basically a Super Mecha anime cranked up to 11, with a lot of Gainax's distinctive "flair." Also it's kinda, sorta, based on Plato's Cave analogy, but with robots and tiddies.
@BlinkRape@coolboymew Based on circumstantial evidence and Google I'm pretty sure this is the shirt in question (front and back). Not gonna lie, I'd have worn that as a kid.
@Moon You don't have to do that, but I would certainly appreciate it, thank you! If you don't/can't/we both forget about this, then no biggie. I intend to get a PO box shortly after I move, so let me know.
@Moon I would genuinely love to own some nice high quality prints of his, I do own some nice art books (some of which are out of print incidentally), but good quality prints tend to be up there in price. Once I move to somewhere a little more stable I do plan to though. To me, he's peak 80's aesthetic.
@jeffcliff@PinochetsCommieCopter Speaking as someone both pro-choice and anti-open borders; I believe very strongly in a person's right to bodily autonomy without control by a state or local government, and also identify that borders are what defines a country. My issue with open borders isn't even really about immigration, it's more about the labor exploitation of immigrants by corpos that open-border policies facilitate, and the reality that a lot of it is a front for human trafficking. Having more or less people doesn't really factor into either argument for me.
