@mushroom_soup I LOVE Skyrim. Never got into the Witcher, not interested in playing male characters, especially when they have the capability of seducing female characters on screen lol
@mushroom_soup Resident Evil 6 has an objectively awful campaign, with shitty turret sections, quicktime events, claustrophobic maps, and god awful chase sequences but the melee combat mechanics and newfound mobility are extremely fun if underdeveloped because of those flaws. I would still take it over the westernized slop Capcum has been putting out recently.
RE6 is a fucking travesty. The movement and action options you have are probably best in the genre but because they completely botched the campaign and again scored you on stupid retarded bullshit in Mercs there was just no way anyone could actually explore it. Imagine if RE6 had been good and created a subgenre of RE6-likes the way RE4 had.
@Indigo@mushroom_soup i won't defend it but i enjoyed it, beat expert mode too same with need for speed prostreet and carbon and undercover, people love to shit on those games but that's their loss that they can't enjoy games that aren't the best
Imagine making a game with such a massive moveset of melee attacks for every character, a massive arsenal of weaponry +freeform dodges, then having a scoring system that encourages you to sit in front of enemies in a hallway and hit R1 when they take a swing. CAPCOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOM
@Indigo@mushroom_soup i really didn't mind the level design in most levels except central city, the doom and lost impact, the gunplay was fun too even if it trivialized the game, didn't even mind the a-ranks being just a matter of doing the objective quickly enough it's a fun game and the only things it suffers from are controls and homing attack being unpredictable, also i guess vehicles are outright useless outside of the black comet levels where you actually need to use the disk to not die
@lina@mushroom_soup Shadow the Hedgehog was one of my favorite games as a kid and it wasn't until I got older that I learned people didn't like it. As an adult I can rationalize that yeah, it's not a great example of game design/level degin/etc.; but the audience for that game wasn't adults in their thirties with IKEA bookshelves behind them, it was hyperactive 11 year old boys who want to see a cartoon hedgehog say soft-core curse words and shoot things with a GUN. I was one of those in 2005, and I am not sorry for that.
@Indigo@mushroom_soup yea not to mention that the soundtrack is great like in any other sonic game (except for sonic boom rofl) like there's a nice ambient dnb track not unlike foregone destruction in the doom, a soothing, melancholic track in lost impact, the chaotic and freaky sound of westopolis, the determined and badass mood of lava shelter, etc. etc. the game's theme is stellar too, so are the ending themes too, like people really shit on the game just cuz some youtuber said that it sucks and that's it
@lina@mushroom_soup The vehicles are useless of the most part, and I will gladly admit that the "Kill all of X" missions were pretty grating to me, even back in the day, but other then that I will go to bat for the gameplay of Shadow being no worse than the Shadow/Sonic stages of Sonic Adventure 2, and it stands tall above '06 and Sonic Boom. Also I think the game's whole "tree-based" mission structure was pretty unique and ambitious considering how many different "paths" you can take through the game. This will also never stop being funny to me: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TPCs6mNzUGQ
@lina@mushroom_soup@Indigo Eh, I thought the controls were fine. It did have slippery momentum like Sonic Heroes but the levels were designed with it in mind (except for central city) yet people defend that game while shit on this one. :tanya_sigh:
@Ace66062@mushroom_soup@Indigo i'd say that when emulated and played with a keyboard, the slippery controls are less apparent than in sonic heroes funnily enough people are weird though, they'll listen to whatever youtubers tell em "sonic heroes is le good but shadow the hedgehog is le bad" nigger shadow the hedgehog has the spin dash and it's on the same engine as sonic heroes, i'd say it's actually better than heroes lmao
@Indigo@mushroom_soup yea and similarly cryptic castle has an eerie, edgy vibe plus the weird fucking skeleton chasing after you at the end was cool as hell and honestly would've been subject of some creepypasta if people played shadow the hedgehog more
@lina@mushroom_soup Absolutely based description. I also like this one, which I feel encapsulates the "evil circus," vibe of the level well without coming off as too try-hardy (also pops into my head from time to time). https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbaAWPZZIb0
@lina@mushroom_soup@Indigo A lot of the levels stood out well aesthetically speaking and had very fitting songs to go with them as well as actually being well designed. Though there are some awkward sections like riding on the flying aliens in Cryptic Castle. Man now I wanna replay this game a third time lol. youtube.com/watch?v=RglxkcgMXPQ
@Ace66062@mushroom_soup@Indigo it's very long and confusing, easy to get filtered, not to mention the dark mission involves a lot of circuit riding that eventually gets on your nerves and eyes
