Incompetence may not be accidental; it can be deliberate. Authoritarian leaders often install unqualified people into powerful roles, not to succeed, but to fail in ways that centralise control and degrade institutions. It’s a dangerous strategy, and it should be noticed and called out.

Senior US District Judge John C. Coughenour heard 25 mins of arguments & then issued an order from the bench blocking the policy from taking effect for 14 days. There will be a further briefing on a preliminary #injunction to permanently block the EO while the case proceeds.

Watched Maddow’s A block on shaming members of Congress.

I mean, really, is there a more uncomfortable and undesirable emotion than shame? Public humiliation? Embarrassment?

Guilt is a powerful negative emotion as well.

I think Maddow is spot on.

Pounding officials daily with questions designed to promote feelings of guilt and shame is a great idea.

I’m going to talk to my therapist about provoking shame through questioning next week for resources.

@RustedComputing Chemical exposure, development quirks and other things may play a role. Intersex and other things are real things. And some are genetic quirks, too. Some people don't biologically fit neatly into the binary, even without any other thing. And those women who have a mutation which suppress male development even though they are biologically XY...
