*sigh* submitted an issue asking for some accessibility work to be done to a software package and the response was "there's no audience for this, someone who actually uses a screen reader should submit this request". I am definitely not the person to reply to this and have no idea how to do so in a reasonable manner.

Yet another thing that I thought I could volunteer to help out with, but it's Discord only. Maybe it's time I suck it up and just be willing to use corporate VC trash chat. I will never understand how groups like the #DSA, the #IWW, and various anarchist types, etc. who generally take principled and well thought out stances on things they buy just ignore that analysis for technology.

@dx if you end up not wanting to run your own as you said, I use @mayfirst and I think I can generate as many addresses as I want (and they all go to whatever mailbox I tell them to). I don't do it for every single thing, but I do make unique ones for specific services sometimes.

@edumerco @ntnsndr how are those trained? The biggest problems (in my opinion) with AI aren't really sending stuff to the cloud (which is already a problem be it AI or most non-AI tools that accomplish similar tasks), but the massive environmental impact (mostly created during training, though some part of that is cloud based to) and unethically harvested training data. Those won't necessarily change just because a copy of the AI is running locally instead of on a supercomputer somewhere.

@ajroach42 Context? I see they have an announcement on their site about closing the forums and other places where minors may be present and doing background checks, so I assume there was some sort of harassment going on, but I can't seem to find any details about it?

Had a friend who's a physical therapist say happily that AI tools were making her job much easier lately. She looked put out when I said "please don't get yourself arrested" and she said something along the lines of "but they make these tools specifically for us!"

I don't know how I can possibly stress enough to people who have never been in the tech industry how little they care if you are following the law or killing patients or what not as long as you give them your money first.

This is the promise and the problem with AI though: it's always a bandaid, an easy, instant, convenient "solution" to problems that need to be solved the hard way. I want your paperwork to be easier too, but the way to do that is to unionize and to fix the insurance companies, not to patch over the annoyance with bullshit machines and let the insurance execs keep doing what they're doing.

I'm not saying that we should murder everyone involved with this project, that would be illegal. What I *am* saying is that #Atlanta and the world would be a much better place if someone did do that.

TL;DR we're testing a bunch of rich shit's private 'whites and "one of the good ones"'-only (we all know that's the point, don't pretend like it's not rich people going to the convention center) pod-busses instead of just building fucking public bus lanes and light rail. 😠

@ascentale @jfparis A4. my only real cycling goal is to start a bike shop. So far it's not going great, but it's early days. I've had 3 or 4 customers so far (mostly people I know from the fediverse or the local mountain bike park), so that's nice at least!

I'm really struggling to find a way to market it outside of people I already know though.

The Jonquils and Carolina Jesamin are starting to peek out this morning, that makes it officially Spring in #Atlanta, I think! Yellow is everywhere!

Spring update: now this thing in my yard is blooming! I should really figure out what it is, they're all over #Atlanta and I never know.

And this bush, and that tree, and a few remaining Jonquils!

And, of course, my favorite: the dogwoods are blooming!

Spring Update 5: the black cherry is blooming, and for the first year ever my Pawpaw tree has a bloom!

Spring Update 6: Azalea time! Sadly the previous owner of my place planted non-natives, but I'd really like to get some native Flame Azalea one day. The rest if the neighborhoods bloomed weeks ago, but mine are very shaded.
