Enter Boris Karloff as Dr. Scarabus, a charming and jolly host sincerely enchanted by the arrival of unexpected guests!

Rexford is overcome with a maniacal fit as Grimes was before him! The carriage rocks wildly, Estelle is terrified as they four horses and four humans race along a narrow path high above a crashing sea.

The music, on the other hand, plays the scene along like a merry comedy.

The fit passes as Rexford and co approach a matte painting of a foreboding castle!

Erasmus disarms and overpowers the maniacal Grimes with bright green midair finger painting!

Grimes seems now to be restored to old self, his fit of blind murderous rage now dispelled.

Enter Rexford, Dr. Bedlo's son! The family resemblance is weak, but no weaker than between Erasmus and Estelle.

Scarabus reaches into thin air, grabs ahold of a bell pull suspended in thin air, pulls it twice, and summons... Lenore!? No! A merely similar-looking young lady, just as quickly dismissed again as she was first summoned!

The twists and turns of this movie, really. It's like an itchy snake on a turntable set to 78rpm.
