It is extremely techbro that there is a focus on the world-ending potential of AI when the much closer and demonstrable risk is that marginalized groups become victims of automated discrimination and the reason is because tech bros aren't going to be personally affected by that.

Today's entry in #OneThousandYearsOfWomen is Margery Kempe, an extremely Christian woman who went gunning for sainthood by going on pilgrimages and demonstrating what she considered to be a variety of miraculous abilities. She then wrote what is considered to be the first autobiography in the English language about her adventures, giving us great insight into her life and times and the fact that she was just absolutely hands-down the worst travel companion you could ever possibly imagine.

The clear message I am getting from Bluesky is that black people felt unsafe on mastodon. Black Twitter was a huge part of what made it special, and it's been notably absent on mastodon. I will be sad if mastodon loses to a less-open alternative because it couldn't figure out how to be welcoming to everyone.

What's that you say? Bluesky crossed a few hundred thousand users and immediately started having moderation issues? You don't say! Who could have possibly predicted? etc.

Probably the most use I get out of my entire Computer Science degree is recognizing when a feature request amounts to solving a known NP-hard problem so that I can say "that bit will be tricky".
