@BeAware I much rather Mastodon push forward on these changes. At the same time, advocating for these changes to be adopted part of AP. The problem with protocol standards like AP is getting a large number of stakeholders to all agree on something which takes a long time.
Sorry but I don't want an America that is ultimately being controlled by The Heritage Foundation, the Southern Baptist Convention, a bunch of NRA gun wielding nut jobs, psychopath anti-feminists, incels, Russian & Chinese tankies, QAnon conspiracy lunatics, neo-confederates, and billionaires who want massive tax cuts

Love #Mastodon and want to see it thrive? Consider donating or becoming a sponsor. Money goes a long way to help the Mastodon team build the features you want.
Also, I had no idea there were so many abandoned Mastodon instances still running that have open registration enabled. Doesn't it cost money to run these? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. Glad there is a fix coming https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/pull/29280

I see the `rel="me"` links on both websites. The PHP Foundation account shows up as verified for me but for some reason the PHP account does not. Hmm 🤔
@ramsey@annika seems like this can be resolved by resaving the @php account’s profile. Saving the profile will force the Mastodon server to re-trigger a link verification. I guess @pronskiy has access to the account to save the profile.
All media and news outlets that are unsure if it's worth setting up a #Mastodon account because they won't get enough followers: Take a look at Ars Technica (@arstechnica).
Ars established their account fairly recently (Apr 25, 2023) and have quickly gained a large following -- 118K followers!
- They actively post - Their account is verified - Their homepage has a link to their Mastodon account
What New York City is currently experiencing is what everyone in the Bay Area experienced back in 2020.
Climate change is here, it’s impacting everyone, and it’s only going to get worse.
If we allow the oil and gas companies plus all the politicians they’ve heavily lobbied to continue as if nothing is wrong or that climate change is a hoax, we’ll have much bigger problems.
