@chris@m2m@kel@jp Same. My current phone is an older Pixel specifically because it is well supported by @calyxinstitute. As much as I love Calyx I would buy a Fairphone in a heartbeat if I could.
I highly recommend it even if you are only mildly curious. She does an excellent job placing the recent attacks into context and thoroughly debunking the claims. Also fascinating if you aren't very familiar with how Wikipedia generally works.
I published one of the shorter posts I had in mind. In part a response to a recent post by @pluralistic as well as an encouragement to read it if you haven't.
Appropriate to the time of year, I also reflected a bit on my own particular expression of being a blockhead who writes even though I don't care if anyone pays me. Quite the opposite I've learned.
Came across another great podcast episode while restoring my web-site. I interviewed @pluralistic about his first crowd funded publishing experiment, the short story collection, *With a Little Help*.
With my old mind, stresses like this past week would have likely led to me abandoning my well being.
I have learned and practiced a lot to strengthen my well being these last couple of years. I did so hoping for a day when the stresses that inspired me to do the work might end.
I am realizing for myself that is the wrong way around. I need to keep myself well and strong regardless so as stresses come and go, I always have the reserves and resilience I need.
@pluralistic I am so glad there is plenty of cause for optimism. I am amazed at the lessons and advice you are sharing, let alone dealing with the experience itself.
@jamesvasile That's a good description of the keyboard and the laptop itself. I had to look up how to get certain characters like back tick but the shortcuts generally make sense. I am checking the manual less and less. Mine came with a printed manual and there is a package for the electronic edition.
I am feeling better #today. I had another good night of sleep though struggled a bit to climb out of bed to start the day. I realized my low feelings this week are likely some cerebral weather.
My $dayjob agenda is light so I can concentrate on next tasks while waiting on RFC feedback. I have some data analysis to finish before a meeting next week and more work to do on my designs and proof-of-concept code.
I have been trying out a new rule of three when it comes to receiving feedback. I required myself to read the feedback at least three times before doing anything in response.
I see an early pattern emerging from practicing this rule. Instead of sparking a needless conflict over a comment that isn't even wrong, I start with curiosity about my own understanding of the topic at hand.
We removed a volunteer tree in the southeast end of our plot. Everything in the flower bed south of the house has understandably responded. This clematis has never had this many blooms at once.
@evan Are you asking about hot tea or any herbal tea? I answered thinking the latter, since I drink iced hibiscus tea every day to help with my blood pressure. For my morning hot beverage, it isn't "herbal": green tea.
