My phone is pining relentlessly with notifications from banks and eBay trying to verify each other...

There is this relentless pressure from eBay to push me into letting them have absolute control over my bank account with Trustly 🤮

Finally managed to get them to confirm via micropayments,they are going to drag this out another week.

They are the worst sticky stinky kind of dog shit!

Yeah, easy to spend time writing things only to not use them, I just wait until I get irritated repeating the same action over and over.

Huge fan of Alfred here, it's absolutely worth learning how to write your own extensions for it, I don't write many, but when I do, it's just great 👍

Oh, except I ditched Mac OS because they are embarking on an enshittification cycle to try and sell us the same stuff all over again.

Very happy with Ubuntu - it's absolutely flying on a 12 year old Macbook Air!

I don't know where to begin, just a shit show of many bugs, UI fail, coercive operational limitations - including *severely restricted search* if you don't pay, moving goalposts re. financials - first one price then another more expensive one that I would have never agreed to, export options are pretty much just a joke, I could go on at length - just buggy alpha software at best.

By far the worst email experience of my life 🤣

Okay, going to the trouble of installing Thunderbird and adding various emails I need to keep up with...

p.s. the one account that is still festering is my Tutamail account - not installing that on here, really need to kill that off sooner rather than later. I still feel a burning sense of shame for ever having been taken in by those Class-A Holes.

It's pretty focused, I never upload camera photos to the cloud by default, that's crazy to me... so I want to be able to take a photo with my phone and send it to my desktop quite often, this does that, no problem.

Similar with copy and paste, being able to do that seamlessly between phone and desktop is pretty useful!

Never bothered with HandOff.

SMS is kind of annoying, I am used to being able to do that on my desktop, but probably going to switch back to Signal.

It's still in development, but honestly, just the file transfer and clipboard sharing are enough 👍

I use one device to make sure I limit my time, if I am not using that device, then I don't get to scroll. This also works very nicely for me. I do have a browser app on my phone if I really need to, but usually don't bother and have it hidden away.

I've never used anything else.

If I want to read a new thread, I open in a new window, then when I close it, I am back where I was, it doesn't always work, sometimes I get distracted.

Also, if I want to keep my position, I just scroll away from the top a little and it holds there even though it refreshes with new posts above, hide the window and come back to it later.

It's not very high tech, but it's a habit solution that works for me.

Yeah, it pisses me off sometimes too, same with any form of extremism.

It only takes the tiniest amount of compassion or understanding, or even just a low IQ, basic, cold-hearted capacity to see something from someone else's perspective to realise that things are not always that simple, but these dogged brained pricks have none of that - just like all narrow minded bigots!

I have had a different experience, Apple has always worked extremely well for me, very stable, very reliable, hardly any interruptions whatsoever. I can't explain this, maybe I jus got lucky, but nearly 20 years is a long time to be lucky for.

This is all true, until about a year or two ago when things started to take a nasty turn and Apple let standards slip, and now, it's increasingly shit.

As for pure tech - ignore those pricks!

I feel so sad about how this industry has turned out, for a good while there it was fun and exciting, free and rebellious, challenging and difficult, and being able to do things no one had done before was de rigour.

It's been an attritional change but now it's all tied up, owned, corrupted, manipulative, greedy, hateful, controlling, biased.

I know you know this, but I just wanted to say it again - I think I am grieving 😢
