Dallas looks like they know exactly what they're doing. Minnesota doesn't. Might be all there is to this series really.

@emarktaylor yeah the two teams are really closely matched. But when one closely matched team is executing in the endgame and the other isn't, it's decisive. Wolves can def turn it around but at this point it will take sustained next level excellence from Ant to do it.

I'm not usually a Rudy defender but i feel like it's time for people to let that go. Guarding Luka alone on the perimeter while he dances isn't what he won the award for. No one in the league can do it reliably so 🤷

Turns out he's great. Seems like his season is going to end today but he and his team have put themselves back in the picture. See you next year king 👑

@hakan_geijer thank you! when BLM and related protests were at their peak in in PDX, one of the most effective ways for distant supporters to assist was (at least for awhile) to fund or directly purchase and deliver street first aid/medical kits and other personal safety gear (e.g. gas masks). Do you think that was a matter of circumstance (the amount of time the protests went on) or could this be applicable now? May I ask your thoughts on that approach in general? It seemed helpful at the time.

@ntnsndr @JonnyGarf I see that the discussion has already gone another direction, but what if the quality that's sometimes discussed as being "internet native" is really about experiencing a diverse set of platforms, methods, communities etc while acclimating to the internet? i.e. those who are used to thinking of "the internet" in terms of one or a few apps, vs those who had to learn many methods of interaction and came to see "the internet" as a higher order thing separate from any given mode?

My only thought/take re: meta/threads and federation that's worth sharing at all is that I don't see any benefit in raising awareness of Masto/Fedi via that federation or anything else. I disagree with the premise that ramping up growth is good & suspect it may be quite destructive if it outstrips the rate that moderation and at least a bit of cultural assimilation can scale. I don't care about killing Xitter or any other external goal. I just want this place to succeed as itself & remain itself

This point is neither pro nor anti Threads per se though it is a rejection of one of the rationales sometimes offered for federation. Growth oriented goals are, in my opinion, based on assumptions rooted in competitive capitalism. Masto/Fedi are not profit seeking capitalist enterprises and thus imposing those imperatives on them is a conceptual error to be avoided. I would prefer to see slow, organic growth until a natural homeostasis is reached; that is, the kind of growth we already see.

@bourgwick if I could impress one thing upon the general public from the professional side of my life, which has been spent either in or around computers, the internet, and digital media, it is this:

Every part of it that's driven by money is an absolute trash pile that's constantly about to burst into toxic flames. No matter how janky you think it is, it's *much* worse. It's only because a lot of brilliant people need jobs that the fires are usually extinguished quickly. Don't trust any of it.

@lauren certainly true. When I think about it, the iconic impact of that character is almost all in the first two films. The first more than the second, but the second one has the amazing loader vs mama alien fight. So I think the way the series trails off has been harmless in terms of Ripley at least
