@Cocoa @Suzu the ryzen 7 4700U and 16 GB of ram are enough on my hp probook, what i do need more of is storage space cuz the 500GB nvme that came with the laptop and the 1TB ssd i bought after are on the way to be not enough for my data hoarding and gaming tastes...

@Suiseiseki @deprecated_ii it all depends on how their hardware is used, taking the crypto mining bubble as an example many crypto mining workflows relied on a stable graphics card performance and the card working at it's most efficient rate so miners would keep them from thermal throttling running at a steady voltage, clock rate and tdp for long periods of time which would not incurr significant "electrical wear" so by the time the bubble "popped" and many mining rigs hit the second hand market the graphic cards were in rather good condition not toasted beyond grillforce heat.

the ai specific hardware however doesn't seem like it goes for steady efficient performance but rather for abrupt bursts of high performance so chances are the AI datacenter hardware will be quite toasty by the time it gets retired from prod and hits the second hand market.
