All of the news company's revenue spiked in the Trump administration and crashed in the Biden administration. When the government is boring and works pretty much as expected, nowhere near as many people pay as much attention to the news.

Everything Biden has done in the last 4 years is squarely within the normal bounds of what everyone expects a Democrat President to do. Even Fox News doesn't get as much traffic because what are they going to actually report on? Biden continues to be a normal mainstream liberal? That's like reporting "water still wet" and "sky still blue".

A Trump administration is a disaster every minute, thus everyone gets glued to Drama Of The Day.

I can see both sides of the issue. Fact of the matter is that local IT at small hospitals and doctor's offices simply are not capable of maintaining a high availability and secure EMR system until and unless you get it all the way to "here's your half rack of server appliances - plug it in, done". Losing network is a major problem in other ways as well, of course. But either and both are cases that need to be carefully thought through as part of the facilities' BCP. A cyber attack taking down your local servers can kill your availability same as a network outage.

In many ways, I'm glad Douglas Adams passed away when he did. While I'd like to think he was the sort of person who would continue to support trans rights, the track record of English people of his generation ain't great, and it'd gut me to see my childhood idol say I'm a monster.

I think the book I read the most as a child and had a very formative impact on me was the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy. Which explains a lot about my personality.

A pro tip for trans people who live in shitty discriminatory states who refuse to update gender markers: it's super easy to get a passport with your gender marker updated, and you can use your passport as a valid ID for almost anywhere and anything. If you want, you can even get a "Passport Card" so it fits in your wallet. About the only place you HAVE to show a driver's license is to the cops if they pull you over and demand your license. But other than that, airports, employers, liquor stores, pharmacies, voter registration, security guards, federal buildings, any of it, a passport is a valid photo ID that proves your identity and citizenship. It has the added bonus of allowing you to flee the country (by land or sea) if shit gets bad. To fly you need the passport book.

I mean, rear end accidents with a normal sized and weight car, and not too high of a difference in speed are generally survivable. But with some car that weighs 2-3 times more than you, you're fucked.

I know it'd be really fucking illegal, but I want a small car that has giant spikes all around it at 6.5 feet above the ground. If you drive a normal car and get in a wreck with me, it's no problem, you can hit my car. If you drive a massive oversized truck, you're risking a spike through your windshield.

How does one say #AuDHD out loud? Just spell it out? "Aww Deed"?

I mean, I didn't choose my gender or sexuality either, so I'm not about to give anyone shit about living their own in whatever way makes sense to them. It's still always cool to see even cis and het folks pushing the boundaries of what is considered "accepted" gender norms if they feel like it. We can't pick our gender or sexuality, but fashion and behavior is all just social bullshit you can express yourself however you like.

It always makes me unreasonably happy to see other gender non-conforming, non-binary, and/or trans people out and about.

I think I'm just going to re-boost this toot every week until November 6th...

It's honestly difficult to rank which people are more annoying:

* Vote Blue No Matter Who. "How dare you even consider not voting or voting 3rd party!!!"

* Both Parties Are Bad. "How dare you say Democrats do anything good!!! I refuse to vote for Democrats/I'm voting 3rd Party because Democrats are terrible at my particular list of pet issues. I want 'The Revolution' to come and save us."

Working in cybersecurity is just monetizing my preexisting anxiety disorder.

How awful would a shelter have to be for someone to decide sleeping in a tent in an alleyway or under a bridge or whatever is better than sleeping inside? If you want people to stop sleeping outside, make inside free, available, and better than a tent.

I grant a LITTLE concession to arts and crafts stores. It can take a lot of time to make decorations yourself, so you gotta start early in the year.

A thing I never see reported as often as it should be is that the Forbes' title of wealthiest people in the world is basically limited to people whose wealth is discernable via publicly traded companies, etc. When you're talking people like Putin, the Saud family, or any wealthy people who hide their wealth in shell companies and offshore accounts, it's functionally impossible to tell just how much money they have/have control of.
