I don't care how bad your imposter syndrome is - you deserve every dollar you can get from capitalists. Negotiate as much money as you can. Demand raises. If you can find some other corp offering more, go there. It doesn't matter if you think you deserve it, it's about extracting wealth from corps. Even if it turns out you're keeping a seat warm for 6 figures. Keep that seat warm and cash those paychecks. (Then donate as much as you can afford to).

It's a happy summer solstice, which means it's 7.5 years that I've been doing this being trans ... Thing. :trans_heart:

I won't say it's been easy. Some of the darkest times of my life have been in these years. But I'm still here fighting my way forwards a day at a time. May we reach a point where being trans doesn't have to be any more of a big deal about someone than what their natural hair color is.

I doubt that it's possible to get anything close to accurate estimates, but it sure would be interesting to figure out a "power/water used per token" based on which model someone uses. Most folks obviously wouldn't give a shit and just use whatever is the big number does goodest, but it'd still be interesting - is this model twice as bad? 4 times as bad? 10 times as bad?

I feel like my fear of cruise ships is justified in that it's an enclosed space, diseases can run rampant, and you can be effectively imprisoned there when something goes wrong.

The ship loses power. A disease outbreak. Fog closes the port. A bad storm. Whatever. At least (if)/when I go to a resort, I'm on land. I can go to a hospital. If there's some disease outbreak, I'm not stuck in my little tiny cabin for days on end. I can catch the next flight home if I have to.

@ryanc The other week I was trying to get it to spit out a boilerplate REST API template, and the damn thing kept saying it was too similar to other people's code so it wouldn't do it. Like ... There's only so many different ways to write an API template. It's like "make a chocolate chip cookie recipe with flour, sugar, baking soda, chocolate chips and a pinch of salt". There's not really that many ways to switch up a chocolate chip cookie recipe.

I don't even know how one would do a good survey of this, but I'm always curious for trans people how much of our career "success" was from before or after our transition. Or vice versa.

Trans people are as close as you could really get to an A/B test on workplace misogyny. It's literally the same exact person presenting as different genders.

I gotta say, much respect to our trans journalists who report on all the awful day in day out, oftentimes for way less than minimum wage. I don't agree with every one of their takes. But I also can't imagine having to do their job of staring into the abyss of people who hate you, getting death threats, and seeing the worst of humanity all to at least try and get the word out to everyone else what the fuck is going on in the dark side.
