No more tents in California, the governor and my mayor says. So they just threw people’s tents away so now people are just on the streets with no shelter, their stuff everywhere. Everywhere, people applaud this for being ‘tough on homelessness’, as if being poor is the crime. Institutional neglect and lack of housing, treating poor people this way should be the crime

How awful would a shelter have to be for someone to decide sleeping in a tent in an alleyway or under a bridge or whatever is better than sleeping inside? If you want people to stop sleeping outside, make inside free, available, and better than a tent. -

Nope, it isn’t. Stop it.
Have you looked up the number of shelters available, vs the number of people who need help? Have you looked up the utterly inhumane ways in which we ‘offer’ help, then punish people for not accepting this (terrible) help?
