Elon Musk and Taylor Swift can kick and scream all they want, but flight info is public information and it is your right to access it. The electromagnetic waves are beaming through your skulls as we speak! These are all public flights but I've seen private ones as well by listening in using my $20 RTL-SDR.
@hakan_geijer@HeavenlyPossum true although in my cast I just don't break my limits. I guess it's easier for me to keep to my own rules because I don't drink socially so much as with dinner at home. I think the "social drinking == less bad" rule people in the US believe gets things backwards. It's always in social settings where there's peer pressure to stay a little longer and drink a little more.
@HeavenlyPossum one year when I decided to swear off alcohol for 3 months after feeling like shit one New Years to see how I feel afterward, that was the start of me restricting the amount and frequency I drink afterward. I did lose a lot of my built-up tolerance over time.
@HeavenlyPossum yeah it's pretty awesome. I've been limiting myself to 1 12oz beer max a week and I switched it to every other week end of last year. The only downside is I can't really handle some high-alcohol beers I like, like Abyss unless it's just a tiny amount. I do sometimes get a 4oz taster of local imperial stout straight from the brewery.
@killyourfm The only way I make DAWs work (for me, Bitwig) is by extensively using control surface/midi controllers. But yeah, since my job is computers, I like to avoid computers as much as possible for hobbies. Hence me using film cameras at least half the time.
@killyourfm I challenged myself awhile back to record stuff just using its 4 tracks and only hardware stuff I have. As a way to take a break from using DAWs for everything. It was fun and I plan on continuing with it again.
@Gargron@mfierst ah yeah I guess that is confusing coming from 135. I don't know how the Pentax is but for both of my Mamiyas, you just keep advancing until you get to 0 (and rest easy knowing you're just exposing paper).
@Gargron maybe I've just gotten used to it but to me 120 doesn't have a lot of the frustrations that 135 has given me since I was a kid. I appreciate that I don't have to use special tricks (that only work on certain cameras) to get the maximum photos out of the roll and still end up wasting some film. 220 on the other hand... that's the worst of both worlds.
Innocence is a red herring. Most people kind of suck and they also deserve to live. What applies with police brutality also applies with terrorism and war crimes.
@killyourfm Iโm a long-time Linux & FreeBSD user. I make some open source code including the @grig audio libs and an oss successor to a proprietary app I made for customers in the medical industry. I also make terrible music sometimes.
@dansup I get it. I'm also self-taught and it took a long time until I was willing to post any of my source code publicly. I also shudder when I see source code I wrote much earlier in my career.
Jews have a tradition of eating Chinese food on Christmas as solidarity between ethnic and religious minorities. Me and my Japanese wife do because one year we were driving between my two divorced parents' houses on Xmas and had to eat something, ate at a Thai place, and made that our thing. Then our daughter was born another xmas and likes Chinese food on her birthday anyway. So we tend to do takeout from pan-Asian restaurants today.
