Loading up 120 film is a lot more tricky than 35mm, and the winder on the Pentax 6x7 has a lot more resistance than I anticipated. Took a while to figure out while the shutter wouldn’t fire. I think it works, but only one way to find out.

I appreciate that I don't have to use special tricks (that only work on certain cameras) to get the maximum photos out of the roll and still end up wasting some film. 220 on the other hand... that's the worst of both worlds.

What tripped me up is the shutter would not fire until the exposure counter reached 1. I was expecting the first frame to be at the big red 0.

220 is another beast indeed.
I hope you did check the backplate @Gargron . Most medium format camera's have a 120 and a 220 backplate. Usually the can be turned around to switch between the two.Getting a 120 roll to load with the 220 backplate, is at a another level. If that works at all, it will be very heavy on the winder.

I don't know how the Pentax is but for both of my Mamiyas, you just keep advancing until you get to 0 (and rest easy knowing you're just exposing paper).
