Mild Gripe: When a newbie asks something, maybe don’t tell them to Google it? In the year of our lord 2023, most of us are probably aware of that tool. If we’re asking an “easily googleable” question, it’s likely because there’s something obvious to more experienced people that we just don’t know yet and maybe don’t even know we don’t know. That’s why we’re asking a person instead of a machine.

I was one of two women in the room! Partway through, a senior man cut me off and talked over me. The VP turned directly back to me and said three words that nearly made me cry in gratitude: “Were you done?” I was a fan of his ever after. It’s not hard to do, but people gotta NOTICE.
