@pfefferle@cdevroe if those content channels were mutually exclusive maybe, and perhaps if I then remembered to log in / write as which author up front.
@cdevroe@pfefferle Imo tying to categories can make sense, if the aim is to not share every posting by an author through AP (which is what I do, not all my posts get presented in html, not all in the feeds, some in neither but do get posted through AP e.g.) Bc my website is not _just_ a website, it's the nexus of my sharing of content, and it allows different viewers on such content (rss, html, ap, api's, others) I use categories to pipe content to specific viewers
@cdevroe@pfefferle I'd prefer having something like a setting that determines per author profile which of the author's content gets represented in AP. Such categories are not meant imo for outside consumption, it's just an internal filter for me to manipulate various content streams. I do have categories meant as externally communicated structure. E.g. a post could be in Culture and Messages or RSS-only. The first is a content category, the latter are 'channel' categories if you will.
Conference organiser: you can't come to our event because we're fully booked, but there is a live stream to follow. On screen, camera shots of the room show at least 40% empty seats throughout the day. I wonder if they reckoned with no shows at all.
@clacke volkseigene Betriebe, iow gov owned enterprises. Who, in my reading of that page would send staff and their families there to holiday as a perk.
@clacke The page for the island of Usedom suggests that while tourism was important 1945-1990 it took place in the context of all facilities being run from off-island VEBs and with many military facilities on the island. Likely meaning whoever was allowed to stay there was tightly controlled? With no 'celebs' from anywhere. And probably also means an absence of statistics.
@pfefferle was wondering about the effect that it would have on the wp database. For now my biggest wish for the AP plugin is being able to filter what goes to AP. E.g. a category (I have a messages category that goes to mastodon e.g. but isn't listed on my site. Like I also have postings that only go into RSS feeds e.g.
Does the WordPress ActivityPub plugin allow for following others and seeing their messages too? Or is it just broadcast and being followed? Iow could you run WP as an AP instance? Would that result in as bloated databases as Masto instances create?
@pfefferle@elmine@sl007 What is the expected response to the webfinger endpoint? (I fake the webfinger file on my zylstra.org domain so that I can be found by my e-mail adress, which then points to this account on my Masto instance.) So what is the actual reponse expected, what are the aliases it should reply with? Like if I search for @ton it gives back m.tzyl.eu/@ton and /users/ton, what is the equivalent actor's url in WP? I could fake it and see if that works
I have cancelled my Mastodon hosting subscription with @mastohost per Dec 1st. For 4 yrs I have had glitchless hosting services. As I move to my own VPS and self-hosting Mastodon, I can make a bit of room for others to host their own instances with Masto.host. If you plan to run your own personal or small group instance, I can fully recommend Masto.host. Thank you @hugo for your hosting services these past years!
