You can’t get around the CBD of #Guangzhou speaking #Cantonese now. This is literally the origin of the Cantonese language. There is a building called the Canton Tower there.
It is Gambling Harm Awareness Week. Asians are nine and a half times more likely to be affected by #gambling harm. If you know of anyone who is affected, encourage them to seek help. It’s OK, there’s no shame in it, especially in a country where gambling organizations spend over NZ$40 million to get people hooked. Don’t let the bastards win.
Easy to say when InDesign isnʼt helping you make a living, though I did use the Gimp for a while. And yet to find word processing or email programs on any platform that outperform WordPerfect and Eudora or have UIs as configurable. We can all get on our high horse about something, but usually I let people get on with things their way. Theyʼll do the best they can.
@davemosk I did expect it as there either was a company or were companies weeks ago talking about ceasing to supply an embassy. Iʼd ignore it if I did business with them. An executive order isnʼt law and Mangolini has no extraterritorial reach.
Mangolini attacks the Murdoch Press (see graphic). Normally Iʼd find that funny. Come to think of it, I still do. If Murdoch decides to push back, thatʼs the end of positive spin on Fox News.
OK, creepy, and probably coming to a western corporate social media website: robots commenting on your posts on #Weibo. And yeah, I admit I replied just to see what would happen.
@billyjoebowers Makes sense. When the French were nuclear-testing in the Pacific, French cars were getting vandalized here. How people protected their cars: they joined Greenpeace and got a Greenpeace sticker for their bumper or rear window.
Not sure what Mark Z. means by ‘masculine energy’ but as far as tech goes, I think it means ‘doing nothing’ and ‘keeping everything stagnant’. Some of the tech stories I knew anything about, the ones where they seriously embarrassed big companies, were broken by women—so bring on that feminine energy!
Two more websites nuked due to #disinformation—thank you, #Hostinger. I wrote to one of them in April, again politely. They were quite happy to spread drivel, and here is the consequence.
