@liztai People like that like to ignore their own problems because their own racism or superiority complex indulges in Schadenfreude. And they really hate it when you point out the equivalent issue in their own society (the origins of the racist taunt, ‘Why don’t you go back to where you came from?’).
They also offer their criticisms while typing on a Chinese-made keyboard that is hooked up to a Chinese-made computer.

@liztai So much of it stems from ignorance. I’ve even seen it in forums where I’ve participated, people forget I had commented, and still dis Chinese people. I might be HK Chinese but I’m still Chinese. One time I added, ‘I’m still here, folks,’ and only a couple of people apologized.

@liztai Thatʼs exactly it. We have a shared heritage, and we literally have family there (in my case half-cousins).

@pseudonym I’m with you, brother, on all three. I still have a “dumb” TV and a “dumb” toaster and my printer is 17 years old with no scanner and no fax. Long may they all live—at least till this shop opens.

@pseudonym Iʼd buy from these folks. Would love a computer printer that prints. No scanning, no wifi, no Bluetooth. Just hooked up via a cable and does a great job printing.

@freemo Thatʼs really cool that you did that. The connection is important IMO. Iʼm pretty much in exile here but luckily thereʼs a good community of my people.
Iʼll look up your tribe now. Iʼm pretty ignorant of the nations and tribes there other than the more famous ones in white culture (e.g. Cherokee). Here itʼs been a wonderful journey to learn about the Māori tribes and language as we werenʼt taught them at school.

@freemo Iʼd love to see what those surnames look like in their original tongue. Iʼm going to look it up. Well, itʼs nice to meet someone who can trace part of their lineage back to original Americans.

@freemo I simply meant that one example of how ChatGPT might have figured out my race, in response to your question, because it was precedent. I know of what First People suffered, and how advanced your societies were before the later arrivals brought their diseases over, but as I donʼt know what surnames you use today since there are so many tribes each with distinct cultures, I imagined you couldnʼt be grouped and targeted as easily.
This 2015 incident was quite a big thing here.

@freemo No, I meant that specific example of a political party inferring race (hence providing a link!), not that Native Americans have never faced racism, which is an incredibly moronic and virtually impossible position to advance. This country is currently going backwards with regard to native rights so of course we are aware, probably more aware, of what Native Americans had to go through, than the average person. Sigh.

Who are these people that #ChatGPT says co-founded #Lucire with me? Iʼve never heard of them. Is ChatGPTʼs programming so racist it canʼt handle a person of colour as a sole founder so it adds white-sounding names to the story?

@Gargron Of that 70 million, many will have popped by to look, or to grab their username, and immediately became inactive.

@Gargron Run them simultaneously to get the temperature you want. This was the norm when I was growing up.

@baldur I switched because Google was way faster (and more accurate). AV was also getting bogged down with the portal content IIRC.
It was a shame, as we were an Altavista Entertainment Zone licensor and we got a lot of traffic through that.
