California electric grid has an app to see energy use and production by source. Between about 6 and 8 am showing it go from 0 to 14 gigawatts of production from solar. The graph is a vertical cliff going up. Total demand being served by renewables at 88% right now.

14 gigawatts is a mind boggling amount of power. And most days, just falling on the ground each morning.

It seems painfully obvious to me this is the way to power a global civilization if we have the will.

This is an all too common failure mode (of humans). The system is working as designed, being a next most probable token generator.

What I keep encountering is humans failing to grasp that the LLM has no world model, and no sense whatsoever of "meaning" or "truth" of anything, ever.

Because a lot of world model, truth-based, reasoning is implicitly encoded in language, frequently true things are probable next tokens.

This makes humans think "understanding" happens. It doesn't.

Stories about tech companies including #AI token spend in total compensation numbers.

This is stupid.

If it's needed for the job, it should be provided like a monitor or chair.

But maybe this is the solution to the AI circular investment problems between Nvidia, Google, Microsoft, Anthropic, and OpenAI.

Let "tokens" be spendable at Amazon like dollars. Forget #bitcoin , tokens are the new alt currency!

Just noticed, using Google Android SMS messaging, the other person sees the profile picture associated with the profile using the phone, and this swaps out dynamically for the recipient when the sender changes device profile, since it still comes from the same phone number.

This seems potentially confusing at best, and a privacy information leak at worst.

Wife's profile picture was swapped out with her PTA profile picture, but it showed up that way in past group chats too.

Same idea. Not sure which phrasing I prefer.

If you replace a junior with #LLM and make the senior review output, the reviewer is now scanning for rare but catastrophic errors scattered across a much larger output surface due to LLM "productivity."

That's a cognitively brutal task.

Humans are terrible at sustained vigilance for rare events in high-volume streams. Aviation, nuclear, radiology all have extensive literature on exactly this failure mode.

I propose any productivity gains will be consumed by false negative review failures.
