Trump, supposedly, is threatening a 100 percent tariff on countries blah blah blah.
In other words, he is promising to raise taxes!
He consistently does this. Trump went to the University of Pennsylvania and yet thinks tariffs are paid by somebody other than the purchaser.
During Trump's quasi-presidency, when he imposed a tariff on imported electronics, I DIRECTLY PAID A FIFTEEN DOLLAR TARIFF on a technical electronic device. The tariff was added to my bill, not to the price of my item.
@readbeanicecream One could have used colored vapor and seen the vortex directly. A vortex is the most intuitive potential answer, anyway, once mentioned.
If the Supreme Court were about to declare the Democratic Party cannot choose a nominee, it might as well declare the Republican Party the only legal party and its nominee automatically president.
@gwynnion@happymilk Republicans depend very much on keeping those parts of the Constitution that are there for historical reasons and are not suited to modern conditions.
Notice also how their law pundits preach against paying heed to modern conditions. They do it slyly, by calling it "originalism" rather than by a more proper name such as "retro-calendarism".
"A human life would be better devoted to the perfection of painting by numbers than to such a project" is how I would have put it, but then I tend not to get my point across. :) (This is me saying I agree with you.)
@gnutelephony@baldur The key mistake made here is thinking that a person is a digital program. It is a widespread error. It is not so. Brains do not work that way. They are analog devices, if you will.
This should be obvious from the fact neurons often send chains of pulses, but never serial codes.
@gnutelephony@baldur I wouldn't worry, because the necessary computer is the original brain in its original body. And it is on life support. And, anyway, why would anyone bother to replicate some dead person from a Dark Age?
