@baka9baka @KaiserKitty @mischievoustomato not tomato, but I can give some data on this, my best TGM1 time in mutter is 20-30sec worse than my best time using gamescope, which in a game like TGM1 at my level, is basically an eternity (my normal PB is 10:12 normal and 9:44 20G, for comparison the WRs are 8:48 normal and 8:33 20G, most players only ever aim for sub-10 normal at best)

@KaiserKitty @baka9baka gamescope has better latency than even fullscreen uncomposited X11 if you're using it with a VRR monitor and a few other sanity check options (--immediate-flips --adaptive-sync --expose-wayland). There are serious arguments for X11 in many types of applications, but what the OP is spewing is obviously deluded nonsense and any domain expert can recognize it as such.

@mischievoustomato (to be honest, I've become a lot more of a FOSS radical over the last year, and one of the big reasons is finding out just how much goated proprietary software companies like Adobe have killed in cold blood without providing a better alternative in the service of entrenching their market position)

@mischievoustomato yeah that point is more for firstworlders who have money to spare and just don't because they're cheap about it

@mischievoustomato But ideally you do that and spend cash on FOSS alternatives so that they aren't developed on shoestrings and prayers and are able to present viable competition (Blender proves the viability of this model and plenty of other things will follow if the budget is there)

@mischievoustomato Nah, all the Adobe shit is retarded and if you care about yourself at all you *at least* go for Affinity (whatever) and Davinci Resolve cracked

@pettanko @mischievoustomato And it makes complete sense if you stop and think about it for more than 5 seconds. JRPG is a genre style customarily developed by the Japanese but it's not exclusive to them, it would be like saying Westerners can't develop danmaku shooting games or Japanese can't develop WRPGs which both can and obviously do.

@Suiseiseki gcc-rs is progressing well, the bigger issue is all the Win32 entanglements.

@Suiseiseki This doesn't restrict any of the four freedoms by letter, you can just fork it and do things yourself as you are entitled to by the license. It's not like those "ethical" licenses which force you into certain patterns of behavior or else you aren't legally entitled to use the software.

@Suiseiseki @nixCraft Which proprietary restrictions? I only see standard MIT boilerplate here, not even anything about trademarks like you might see on (for example) the GPLv3 releases of SimCity or the Command and Conquer games by Electronic Arts. The broader point being missed here is that nu-edit is pointless and there are much, *much* better alternatives even for its intended niche (micro etc.)

@Suiseiseki @waifu @meeper @david where in my post did I say anything about sticking to proprietary workflows? on contemporary oses, there are competent pixeling tools available for free, across a number of different workflows, the only question is whether people are aware they exist. even retro oses have a few as well, although unfortunately not nearly as many as I'd like.

@Suiseiseki @david @meeper @waifu (and I say this as someone who generally defends the usability of gimp in most contexts against adobe baby ducks who denigrate it using forced memes and false narratives)

@Suiseiseki @waifu @meeper @david ok now I know you're living in an alternate reality, for the serious pixeler, it's a dpaint (westie) or mps (japanese) style workflow or nothing. gimp is an image manipulation tool and is tailored to that purpose to the exclusion of niceties for creating new drawings from scratch.

@Suiseiseki @waifu @meeper @david what difference does it make if the software is offline, feature complete, running on a free operating system, and capable of exporting to interoperable formats like gif and postscript?
