@icedquinn It has two hinges to it can break twice as much.
Met someone with this phone. The camera tries and fails to a wide-lens thing in software, only the center looks correct. Everyone else looks bent and disfigured like monsters.

Only Huawei has the courage to launch a phone with a more premium price than Apple, and a less premium quality than OnePlus

@ilja maybe this is why some apps are self-updating recently, not elegant but way better than having no updates once you are not in the stores any more.
And once you are not in the stores, even if you wanted you cannot update the old clients to add this self-update. You need to add it before even if you never end up using it.

Does Apple Books charge any fee (fixed or percentage) whatsoever for selling your books there?
It's such a great business model to profit from pirated book sales, and then pretend it's not your fault when people come knocking.
But for example when you sell stolen motorcycles that was sold to you by a thief, you get into trouble for not checking things properly.

@cstross real pirates buy the books and upload them to pirate websites, dipshits download books from pirate websites and try to sell them
It might be related to a technical bug but I still blame Apple Books here, how can they let randos publish books without a human reviewing it?
Like without a Unicode bug you could still publish as CharIie Stross (that L is actually a capital I), or Chalie Ströss and it might still fool people. I doubt another band-aid will fix their fake seller problem.
Are they gonna make you whole and pay you the money you would have made at least?

@djsumdog I wonder what confuses it. "Library" probably brings it too close to "hardcover book" in the latent space.
If the model allows negative prompts maybe it can help.

@ciaranmak @datarama @futurebird
officially as a country (or citizens by voting for this) or on Mastodon threads? If it's official it should be easy to show?
US makes it official and publishes a list that includes China, Russia, Iran, North Korea.

But last election they represented the public opinion just fine?
How come every time your team wins the system is working but every time the other team wins it's rigged and doesn't represent what the people want.

@futurebird @ainmosni @dalias sorry if you don't want to vote you don't get to complain afterwards. non-voters are clearly happy, if they were unhappy they would vote.
out of everyone that cared who the president would be, most of them voted for Trump

@dalias @futurebird it's already illegal to sell personally identifiable data of Americans to foreign adversaries, including China and Russia.
Aptly called " Protecting Americans’ Data from Foreign Adversaries Act of 2024".

@futurebird you don't get why a CCP-controlled app with extensive data collection pushing content to 100 million (mostly young and impressionable) Americans would be not desirable?

@puniko they should make some sort of garbage collection for this. Freaking integers are garbage collected in Python, but not 160 GB of dependencies.
