    I didn't think it would work this well but I think after some years of using them I can say that I have permanently switched to the atomic/immutable/whatchamacallit side of Linux distributions. They really kinda just work. I like the background automatic updates which aren't something to worry about since they are all atomic. I like Flatpaks for most GUI programs and for anything else I'm fine using a Distrobox container with some minimal distro like Alpine. It also doesn't feel like the system is in a constant state of degrading due to entropy since everything seems to be well separated and containerised, so even if I make a mess in one of my Distrobox containers I can just nuke it and make another one in a few seconds while keeping my base system clean and free of shit.

    Hard to believe how astronomically trash some software can be. Lilypond (for music notation) takes 40 ungodly seconds to start and render a simple page to PDF. It reminds me of when I got deceived by sciencefags into using LaTeX for writing documents and I discovered levels of dogshit I didn't think were possible.
