In other democratic countries (I hear), it's the responsibility of government to get citizens on the voter rolls. In the U.S., it's considered the responsibility of the citizen to register.

The American system makes no sense until it's seen as a vestige of the #JimCrow era, in which white supremacists were looking for ways to prevent formerly enslaved people from voting. Thus the default is "You can't vote."

I thought I might spend more time worrying about Joe #Biden having a bad debate.

But now that the #SupremeCourt has decided that the President is above the law, I think I'm done debating whether Biden is old. That topic is officially closed.

From now on, the people arguing about whether Biden can do the job of #POTUS are just distracting us from the vastly more important question of whether Trump gets to be a dictator.

The most sensible #GunControl proposal I've ever heard: let's nationalize the U.S. gun industry.

The American domestic gun industry could be bought for about $5 billion. The U.S. government could find this amount in the sofa cushions.

The newly nationalized industry would not maximize profits. Instead, it would drop all sales of semi-auto weapons to civilians. It would require background checks. It would drop its support of the NRA.

Call me a cynic. He talks exactly as if he is trying to move the window of acceptable public discourse on the subject of child sexual abuse, so that it will be easier for adult men to abuse teen girls.

I've seen a proper campaign to change the age of #consent, led by experts in child development, social workers, and legal experts. This is not that.

It wouldn't have occurred to me to blame you for someone else's behavior. But if you really want to make it clear that homophobic reply guy doesn't speak for you, you could reply back. You could mention that you're both reporting the reply to the moderators, and blocking the person.

There could not be a stronger case for an exception to Texas' abortion law than #KateCox.

It was a wanted pregnancy. She has two children and wants more. The fetus is not viable. Forcing her to take the pregnancy to term may make it impossible for her to bear children in the future, or even make orphans of her two children.

Republicans claimed there were exceptions to the Texas abortion law. They lied, and here's the proof. They want no exceptions.

I don't have any information on whether the commenter is running a false flag troll account. But there are such accounts, and they're all trying to get me to stay home and not vote for Biden. Which can only help get a #fascist elected.
