I am planning on doing one of the dumbest things one can do with a #Deutschlandticket.

I’m going to speedrun every international station one can visit via rail only using the DLT.

Figuring out optimal routing is a nightmare. Oh well.

On an unrelated note, yes I am a masochist.

Did something today I haven’t done in six years:

A controlled panic buy.

Filled up my car with flour, beans, rice, animal feed and canned goods. (I’m actively using them: tonight I made bean soup, for example.)

Topped up my relatively efficient gas car, a 5L gas can, and my 20L jerry can before prices go up.

I’m planning on not driving unless I need to. By getting bulky purchases done in one go I’m hoping to further reduce my direct need for hydrocarbons, though farm life requires some.

Business idea that I’m working on:

Home appliances that are as analog as possible while being efficient.

My washing machine doesn’t need wi-fi.

My stove doesn’t require a subscription.

My fridge doesn’t need to have a screen shoving ads in my face.

And all of them should be trivially repairable.

I know there are enough people who have guns pointed at their printers in case the printer develops an attitude; I’m certain there are people who would go for this.

There are always going to be some people who won’t come off certain platforms.

Until adversarial interoperability becomes re-legalized, chances are they will stay there.

Governments around the world have the power to give the regime in DC and its major backers a very targeted finger by legalizing adversarial interoperability.

HOPE, the conference @2600 has organized for over 30 years, has been kicked out of its current venue because one person complained.

Ten years ago, this condition was still regularly ridiculed and treated as a joke.

Five years ago, the idea of the condition being anything other than a dx of exclusion was not even considered.

Now we have a blood test for it.

I started on a GLP1 two weeks ago.

Weight is the main reason why, though the evening research showing some protection from certain cancers, reversal of nonalcoholic fatty liver, and even neuroprotective effects was highly tempting.

And the appetite suppression, which is welcome when you otherwise don’t know satiety.

…and preventing the prediabetes from getting worse.

Anyways, I’m down 6kg so far, from 130 to 124. Still have 44 to go to get to where I want to be.

A helpful insight after having debilitating deprexiety for basically the first four decades of my life is that it will never go fully away, only enter remission.

The downside is that it will come back; the upside is that, at least intellectually, I know it will go away.

Cold comfort when it’s bloody 0300 and I can’t sleep, though.

(Yes, four decades. I literally have no memories I can recall from before age 42 not tainted by trauma.)

It’s easy to miss signs of depression sneaking up on you, especially if you lack good registration of your body’s signals.

I completely missed the increased cravings, especially for carbs; the lethargy; the decreased emotional affect; the need to hide; my bed becoming uncomfortable.

I know the cause of this episode. I know it will pass. It just sucks to have to deal with, especially since I can’t use my preferred, ahem, herbal acute antidepressant.

intriguing that even suggesting causing the mask of sociality to slide off these people is considered threatening violence.

not to be disrespectful but like americans raiding canadian pharmacies hurts canadians.

there was a shortage of ozempic for diabetics because it was being scooped up by people that wanted to lose weight.

we had a baby formula shortage because americans raided our stores for it.

prices went up and a lot of poorer canadians were hurt in both cases.

i’m not unsympathetic. but this can’t be the solution.

I started up #LibraryRedAlert for this exact reason, and I’m not getting anywhere near the traction we need to say least preserve the works if not preserve the institutions.

We’re seeing the table get set to criminalize transness.

Criminalizing trans related books and lit will soon follow.

Please help with #LibraryRedAlert so we can prevent these monsters from burning down a century of research, of publication, of literature in an effort to deny our existence legitimacy.

Librarians, archivists, we need to work together to preserve what we can outside the reach of that monster in DC.

As a child, I had an IQ in the 300 range.

As an adult, I’m easily in the 140 range, but I’m also a bloody idiot.

Knowing that ol’ boy Socrates knew more than me because at least he could hold an audience and a job is humbling and grounding if I ever start to get too big for my britches.
