not to be disrespectful but like americans raiding canadian pharmacies hurts canadians.

there was a shortage of ozempic for diabetics because it was being scooped up by people that wanted to lose weight.

we had a baby formula shortage because americans raided our stores for it.

prices went up and a lot of poorer canadians were hurt in both cases.

i’m not unsympathetic. but this can’t be the solution.

I started up #LibraryRedAlert for this exact reason, and I’m not getting anywhere near the traction we need to say least preserve the works if not preserve the institutions.

We’re seeing the table get set to criminalize transness.

Criminalizing trans related books and lit will soon follow.

Please help with #LibraryRedAlert so we can prevent these monsters from burning down a century of research, of publication, of literature in an effort to deny our existence legitimacy.

Librarians, archivists, we need to work together to preserve what we can outside the reach of that monster in DC.

As a child, I had an IQ in the 300 range.

As an adult, I’m easily in the 140 range, but I’m also a bloody idiot.

It’s fascinating to observe these folks.

I admit to a little of a “prepper” mindset but I focus on building community since every disaster makes us naturally go to our true nature as prosocial communitarian beings.

And baking bread.

Nothing like fresh bread to start to feel human after a disaster. (Assuming no gluten issues of course.)

My stress is moderated by a story from a few years ago.

A Jewish man originally from Vienna died at the age of 105 or so.

He left Austria in the early 1930s.

He said, “I’m a simple person. When people tell me they don’t like me, I believe them,” when he started to hear people loudly disparage folks like him.

He was the only survivor of his family.

Doc Bronner had a similar story.

It sucks seeing what’s ahead and knowing I can’t help more people.

That’s all the more damning since they couldn’t be assed.

Example: Oregon has vote by mail. Only 67% of voters returned a ballot in contrast to 78% that voted in 2020.

They literally only had to fill it out and stick it in a mailbox. They didn’t.

“Easy mode” cancer is still cancer.

My cancer 12y ago could’ve been called an “easy mode” cancer, but it still cost me a third of my kidney and required a 12h surgery.

Found random money in my account.

Gods know I need it.

But it was a mistake.

I could’ve just stayed silent about it, but then I wouldn’t be able to live with myself.

Instead, I contacted the people who made the mistake and let them know they have a wee financial vuln thanks to a 3rd party service provider.

Doubt they’ll do anything besides ask me for the money back despite doing responsible disclosure.

We’ll see in 90 days.

Another day where I feel overwhelmed and sensitive.

Mental health struggles be like that.

I’m thankful for the days where I’m feeling almost normal.

I’ve learned how to be thankful for the days, like today, where I feel like crap because at least I’m still able to feel things.
