And GoDaddy did invest that much in marketing. Several Super Bowl ads over the years, as I recall.

@feld Pre-2k, Network Solutions was pretty much the only game in town, and their prices were extremely high for most people.
Just realized something:
I wonder how many of the "Decentralization won't work unless it's blockchain" folks are too young to have used BitTorrent.
@feld @jernej__s `openssl s_client`, too.
"221 2.7.0 Error: I can break rules, too. Goodbye."
Cute.
Yeah. Pretty sure that Terraform was developed by sysadmins who're afraid of automating themselves out of jobs.
Something I might've done, had events played out a bit differently.
@Polychrome I'm still looking for a window manager that looks like Desqview..
@cmdr_nova Which might be the point.
Holy shit. I just discovered something actually useful on orangesite.
@Rob_T_Firefly @Polychrome That's kind of their entire business model.
Hey, @Polychrome? This seems like your sort of thing:
https://cleopatrarecords.bandcamp.com/merch/shin-ultraman-bluray
I don't know why Cleopatra Records is releasing this, it's not their usual thing, but that's where it came from.
Tried the K80 in Leandra.
No dice. Mainboard was returning an error 99 (memory and CPU problem).
Remove K80: She boots up fine.
Pretty sure it's the power supply. 900 watts. Fixable with an upgrade but I think it's going to need to wait until the next time I get paid.
Does anybody know off the top of their head if it's possibly to determine how much power a Linux box is using? I know that Leandra is drawing no more than 900 watts of power, but I don't know how much she's using. I'd prefer to figure things out before I threw more money at this project.
@irick For whatever it's worth (and I'm sticking my neck out here), ReiserFS isn't bloodstained code. He had a company formed for the express purpose of being able to fund the development of ReiserFS. Hans Reiser needed income to live on while he worked on it, so he found a way to do it.
That Hans Reiser snapped and killed somebody is a separate issue from Namesys and ReiserFS and F/OSS.
They want to remove the ReiserFS code becasue nobody has worked on it in over a decade and nobody is likely to. Reasons for that vary (mine is, the last thing I need is my name coming up in connection with Hans Reiser in any way, shape, or form on a background check).
@Mimesatwork Can I quote you on this?
@Mimesatwork It's still interesting, insightful, and true. And it's for my .plan file, not my thesis. :)
@adam They've just realized that cell jammers are cheap on eBay and Alibaba. GPS jammers, too.
Picture else.net of one of my relatives in Washington, DC.
Standing in front of the White House at the fence.
Holding up a Trump campaign flag.
@cinja At this point in time, for multiple reasons, most of my "family" is chosen family these days.
@hopedoty @estelle I need to build a "States it's too dangerous to go to cons in" page.
Dammit.
