And GoDaddy did invest that much in marketing. Several Super Bowl ads over the years, as I recall.

I wonder how many of the "Decentralization won't work unless it's blockchain" folks are too young to have used BitTorrent.

The Doctor (drwho@hackers.town)'s status on Wednesday, 12-Jul-2023 03:22:09 JST The Doctor Yeah. Pretty sure that Terraform was developed by sysadmins who're afraid of automating themselves out of jobs.
Something I might've done, had events played out a bit differently.

I don't know why Cleopatra Records is releasing this, it's not their usual thing, but that's where it came from.

The Doctor (drwho@hackers.town)'s status on Saturday, 17-Jun-2023 10:07:54 JST The Doctor Tried the K80 in Leandra.
No dice. Mainboard was returning an error 99 (memory and CPU problem).
Remove K80: She boots up fine.
Pretty sure it's the power supply. 900 watts. Fixable with an upgrade but I think it's going to need to wait until the next time I get paid.
Does anybody know off the top of their head if it's possibly to determine how much power a Linux box is using? I know that Leandra is drawing no more than 900 watts of power, but I don't know how much she's using. I'd prefer to figure things out before I threw more money at this project.

The Doctor (drwho@hackers.town)'s status on Tuesday, 06-Jun-2023 02:37:03 JST The Doctor @irick For whatever it's worth (and I'm sticking my neck out here), ReiserFS isn't bloodstained code. He had a company formed for the express purpose of being able to fund the development of ReiserFS. Hans Reiser needed income to live on while he worked on it, so he found a way to do it.
That Hans Reiser snapped and killed somebody is a separate issue from Namesys and ReiserFS and F/OSS.
They want to remove the ReiserFS code becasue nobody has worked on it in over a decade and nobody is likely to. Reasons for that vary (mine is, the last thing I need is my name coming up in connection with Hans Reiser in any way, shape, or form on a background check).
