    @neurovagrant @hacks4pancakes Maybe they're dumb enough they'll miss SNRIs.

    I think there are other ways of getting generics into the US too. I know some people buy Canadian insulin and bring it into the US but I'm not sure how it works. Easier to find people who smuggle controlled substances in that respect...

    @jeffcliff A potential downside for you: it could make proprietary software easier to access. There are several features in Matlab and ANSYS that their FOSS equivalents do not have and this would potentially mean that libraries could distribute licenses for research and private study.

      Huge Win for Copyright User Rights in Canada: Federal Court Rules Digital Lock Rules Do Not Trump Fair Dealing - Michael Geist
      from Michael Geist
      The Federal Court has issued a landmark decision (Blacklock’s Reports v. Attorney General of Canada) on copyright’s anti-circumvention rules which concludes that digital locks should not trump fair dealing. Rather, the two must co-exist in harmony, leading to an interpretation that users can still rely on fair dealing even in cases involving those digital locks. The decision could have enormous implications for libraries, education, and users more broadly as it seeks to restore the copyright balance in the digital world. The decision also importantly concludes that merely requiring a password does not meet the standard needed to qualify for copyright rules involving technological protection measures. If this all sounds technical, this post provides the necessary background and then reviews the decision.

    @jeffcliff The triple product in this reactor is low, unfortunately. Wendelstein is still ahead of them in this respect.

    @jeffcliff I've been feeling a lot healthier mentally recently and I've started getting into EE again. Do you know anyone who would be interested in programmable LED matrix earrings? I'm working on a design rn based on mitxela's earrings. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CHoGIvOi-jw

    I'm trying to find products to make for people to get practice so I can take on bigger contracts and projects.

    @jeffcliff @ssfckdt This could be pretty interesting. There is a lot of division in fedi, I think it's a feature more than a flaw. I know many users of the popular reclusive instances like mastodon.art want to be able to have broader access.

    I did not mean to imply you had made an anti-Semitic comment or held anti-Semitic opinions, sorry.

    I was trying to persuade Kurt to stay despite his frustration, he's beyond that point though.

    Thanks for explaining and remaining calm and respectful.

    @FLGLchicago @evan @augieray There is a lot of really crummy stuff on Mastodon today that makes me feel like leaving. For example, anti-Semitism has exploded.

    Evan does not control the fediverse or mastodon, and every instance has its own vibe and its own rules. For that reason, I still believe that it's a better option to be among friends here. I think the problems are just human problems in general - they seem to crop up regardless of a complex algorithm promoting them.

    The question isn't about the technology used, its about how the data is gathered and transformed*.

    Additionally, each of those terms have distinct technical meanings. They're not the same.

    Oops, still requires attribution. Try again.

    EDIT: Also notice, it is share-alike.

    @martin_piper @atatassault @intransitivelie @jlsigman @ben I can't prove a negative, try again.

    To anyone reading this after the fact: the evidence is that LLMs are notoriously bad for hallucinating attribution. There would need to be some pretty major changes to get attribution to work accurately and reliably, and this doesn't even cover the share-alike licensing issues.
