@FLGLchicago @evan @augieray There is a lot of really crummy stuff on Mastodon today that makes me feel like leaving. For example, anti-Semitism has exploded.

Evan does not control the fediverse or mastodon, and every instance has its own vibe and its own rules. For that reason, I still believe that it's a better option to be among friends here. I think the problems are just human problems in general - they seem to crop up regardless of a complex algorithm promoting them.

The question isn't about the technology used, its about how the data is gathered and transformed*.

Additionally, each of those terms have distinct technical meanings. They're not the same.

To anyone reading this after the fact: the evidence is that LLMs are notoriously bad for hallucinating attribution. There would need to be some pretty major changes to get attribution to work accurately and reliably, and this doesn't even cover the share-alike licensing issues.

@sj_zero @jeffcliff Solar is indeed the cheapest source of electricity. It's not convenient, but it's cheap. The expensive part is the convenience.

@Moon I'm learning it to replace native UIs I would have otherwise written in XAML (WPF/UWP), Tcl/Tk or Qt.

@Moon I think Aral Balkan uses it pretty extensively. I think it's a big improvement and covers almost every single use case of javascript that I used to use. Anything that's more complex than that, I'm writing in WASM now anyway.
