How do solar panels on roofs fare when there's a fire? They're pretty expensive, and if they are always getting ruined by fire or weather you'd never get your money back. Maybe these hide-away folding panels would survive better.

But do the panels repel sparks better than asphalt roofs? They're designed to take a certain amount of heat, but of course if the house goes up in flames they will be destroyed.

The utility companies have a legitimate worry about the huge costs of building and maintaining the grid. In hot, sunny areas the panels help cut down peak load on sunny days, saving utilities from having to build for those peaks.

I operated a lab of IBM DOS computers in a school library. To keep little fingers away, the server was on the carpet under a table. Each day about 120 children traipsed in to use the computers.

One day the server shut down, so I called the technician. He set the server on some newspaper, removed the side panel, took a large spatula from his bag and scraped wads of carpet fluff from the panel. The server booted up fine. After that I did it myself every few months.

I'm looking for a piece of software that will let a preschooler use a mouse or touchpad to pick up images of musical notes, plop them onto a musical staff, and play back the resulting row of tones. All the ones I've seen are too complicated. Any suggestions?

I don't buy anything on line, or have things delivered unless they are too big to lift (like a refrigerator...) There are about 50 stores within a ten minute walk or 2 minute drive, with almost everything I want (I'm not a fashion person...) A few times I've taken the commuter rail to the city to try out and/or purchase a musical instrument.
