Spouse gave me the day to do what I wanted, so I cleaned up my ham shack. It's in a much better state, since moving it into it's own room a few months ago.

I also got on 6m #MagicBand #FT8 and operated for a bit a bunch of Arizona stations so far.

This is an ergonimic nightmare, but since most of my operating occurs from my laptop upstairs via a terminal on my packet node, it's acceptable for now.

Watching the waterfall on my IC7300, there's definitely a quality to it when the upper bands are open. I don't know if it's atmospheric noise and other stuff coming from farther away, but it softens out the peaks from less intense local noise?

I learned in engineering undergrad that road damage is a function of vehicle weight (per wheel) raised to the 4th power - largely in the context that freight trucks do most of the damage to our highways.

Granted, tank tracks will spread that load out much more than wheels, so this may not apply quite the same, but still not great.

A fair bit of my day job is explaining to fellow millennials and younger folks that storage in computers used to be extremely expensive and that's the root cause of the arbitrary limit or naming convention that they are now banging their head against.

Then I get to explain technical debt, usually by sharing the Richard Scarry dictionary meme.
