if you spent ~24 hours with someone (Monday/Tuesday) who tested positive for COVID the day after that (Wednesday), how long would you wait before you trusted you were not carrying COVID?

obviously, crowd-sourcing science isn't wise and neither is googling. I do have good resources to go to, and I'll find those. I also know many of you have been following the science really closely so you probably know a lot.

I'm so angry. I applied for $ to hire a consultant who is Black for breaking free fr whiteness work. It got funded, the whole thing, including my own time and a workshop, EXCEPT FOR HIRING THE BLACK PERSON. I followed up saying, what the actual fuck (in different words), this was the whole point of my request. I only asked for $ for myself bc my care committee encouraged me to do so (I live w a low income). white woman = worthy, Black person = not worthy for a racial justice grant? WHAT THE FUCK

@tillshadeisgone yes to all of this! as if those of us who are having a hard time, a really hard time, like maybe I won't even be able to get myself to do it, about voting for Biden don't realize how bad Trump is.

I’ve been really disappointed by people of my generation (I’m 54), who have started subtly or casually or lightly talking about the Gaza solidarity encampments as performative. I don’t know where they’re getting their news, but there’s incredibly deep and well organized activism happening. There’s something so painful about being surprised, again, by people who you thought were truly getting it, who aren’t.

@Gargron oh, I see. I guess it’s just that there are other instances who have a different definition of “adequate” and what constitutes sufficient processing. I saw a positive response to how you handled incorrectly banning someone, so I know sufficient and effective moderation happens. I’ve been reading that with the massive growth that just happened you might need more people? In any case, I’m just bummed that those instances are defederating, that’s all.

Being on this massive instance that so many instances are #defederating from is bumming me out a bit. For a few reasons, I’m staying put (for now). I wonder if there are any solutions being explored by @Gargron and his team to establish more effective moderation processes? Is there any hope the other #instances won’t defederate from mastodon dot social?

@ku7 because of the racism, and I think, possibly anti-trans harmful behaviors? Basically, insufficient moderation, as far as I understand it.

kinda bummed there aren't more kiddos on here (I know tiktok and instagram are The Thing for them). all of the "how old are you" polls are showing mostly GenX & Millenials. do you know of any hashtags to check out to bring even younger voices into those I follow?
