@media_dept @amassaro @papernoise you're not wrong in thinking that peertube discovery is not ideal.

I tend to get most my discoveries by following the hashtag #peertube here or visiting the bigger sites like tilvids, spectra.video etc then following remotely... It takes a while but like #mastodon it has an organic growth.

I really hope at one point we'll be able to boost videos we like that could be tracked by a fediwide database of sorts.

@hobbsc @notptr @Mrfunkedude Yes, I totally agree, not ideal ATM I'm also using the fdroid "unlocked" version and I was hoping that I could view the videos from my subscriptions, but sadly I can only see local videos

After a brief interaction here about some mobile apps for #pixelfed I was reminded that many people are not familiar with the alternative #playstore called #fdroid which once installed gives you access to a massive library of #foss and #opensource applications that DON'T include the typical ads, trackers etc that are always included on the official #google playstore.

If you prefer a more #instagram presentation when following #photography or #art accounts, it's easy!

Create a #pixelfed account like you did for #mastodon https://pixelfed.org/servers

Then, if you find an artist that you want to follow from there, due to the nicer layout for that type of content, just copy and paste their account

ex. @nicetriangle into the search bar and voila ... you're following from there (where you can also comment)
