No matter how many times I clicked the "SPACE" button on YouTube on my TV, I didn't get anything 😤

I actually had to type "Artemis" in, to get videos of the current space mission. 🤪

When you order exciting, very exciting, wonderfully exciting bicycle bits online …

Then add something for $1 to get free shipping

Then add something for $1.20 to get $2 off

Then add something for $1.30 to get one of the other items reduced by $1.50

Then you get notification that your packidge is on the way

Then the courier hands you your package

Then you feel it to guess which exciting bicycle bits have arrived

    Then you open it …

and it's ALL the cheap, totally UN-bicycle-related things you clicked on to get the various discounts. 😢

I'll add my clothes dryer to these stories:
my neighbour asked me to help carry his dryer to his trailer to go to the dump, as it had suddenly stopped.
I asked if he wanted me to take a look, but he'd already bought another one. He let me have it though.

The internals were packed with lint, and a thermal fuse had blown.
I vacuumed out the lint, replaced the 17c part, and have used it for the last 40 years.

If you're going to go to that amount of effort, why restrict movement to one axis?

With an additional set of tracks at 90°, you could have a system where you drag your favourite bookshelf anywhere in the room (in the house?)

Nooo - Time is a thief like Baggins, and will steal your precious!
Start reading them now, otherwise you may never know important parrot facts like:

"Parrots were used in Moving Pictures to add sound to movies. This failed miserably, in part because the handlemen (cameramen) taught them to say things like "show us your knickers"... and the Discworld wasn't *quite* ready for films like that (yet)."

I had a friend visit me (Sydney suburb Australia) from Singapore.
Her plan for the week was to visit Brisbane, Canberra, and Melbourne.

When I pointed out that they were:
    - 10+ hours drive North
    - 4+ hours drive West, and
    - 10+ hours drive South
she really couldn't comprehend, so we started with the Canberra trip. Again, she couldn't believe that I wanted to leave at ungodly o'clock before sunrise, and it only took about 30 minutes once we got onto a highway, that she started saying "You really mean just drive and drive and drive … for FOUR HOURS?!? Why is it so far away?"

The solar system? No! More like the AMERICAN system!

Conveniently, the AMERICAN sun (which can only be looked at directly by the POTUS) is already 1 AU (American Unit) from America! 🤯

    @matthew

If you remove the advertising/financial connotations from the word "influencer", then I have been influenced more by people on Mastodon than any prior social media:

I now often go for bike rides when the weather is not perfectly wonderful, because of a guy who rides every day.

I've found, looked at, and intend to swim in the local ocean baths, because of a lady up the coast who frequently swims and posts pictures which make her ocean baths look pretty wonderful.

I've read several books because of people here waxing lyrical about them.

I've made a chilli dipping sauce, because a lady on here suggested that to me.

So, for me, the influencing on Mastodon is more … "authentic"?

The comments responding to Bezos' reply ticked over to 16,000 when I went to bed last night.
This morning the count is over 23,000 and the replies are still coming in every few seconds.

If he keeps up this brilliant PR performance of his, he'll have to go on Amazon and buy some more storage for the poor little servers handling all the negative comments about him.
