@BroDrillard Maybe watching sports in general might get you to exercise your body compared to at least one of your arms. It all depends on what's on the screen.
@coolboymew What CBC children's shows did you remember fondly? I heard that Nanalan was a popular one since it barely had a language barrier (and it gained a following years later).
@coolboymew The only public children's show on TV that I remembered hating was Wishbone on PBS Kids. It was mostly because I didn't like dogs as a little kid including this one (it didn't help that the realistic talking dog's mouth did not move at all throughout the show), and also that the old stories and histories were just too boring for me to understand in the first place. I didn't even care about whatever deep tragedy (or whatever theme) was going on at all. Then again, I had trouble with English class and reading stuff back then. The picture books were what I loved, but not for the words.
@dielan I tried using Tox and Jitsi once years ago but the documentation was a mess and I stopped using them. Gamers deserve good manuals, even if almost nobody's interested in reading them (or writing them) these days.
@PurpCat Fortunately, there's still some indie/arthouse/foreign scenes worldwide that loathe almost everything about the Netflix audience and their ilk. I should note that I did not say a "good" movie would be made, though. The kinds of movies that fedi would enjoy is never gonna get some kind of attention from something like Cannes.
@PurpCat It seems like the only people genuinely interested in sharing works are the ones shunned from such art circles. You'll never see a "DO NOT REUPLOAD" notice on something like a Chick tract.
@ooignignoktoo@coolboymew@merchantHelios It's not just the AAA space that needs work. I put most of the blame on Microsoft. Those handheld gaming PCs from the Steam Deck to the Legion Go could be the last bastion of optimized gaming, but too much software that's still reliant upon Windows is still a major annoyance. There's likely a growing amount of people that would rather play games and do everything else on a Mac (or even an iPad or iPhone) than suffer with Windows.
