    @verita84 @mangeurdenuage there's a pattern here: people want things, someone comes up with a solution, and a whole bunch of people who contribute nothing to that process bitch as if religiously offended.

    In theory, if you don't like the solution to a problem, you are free and able contribute a better one... but this does not happen. This is why Poetteringware like systemD is still in use 15 years later.

    "whole ecosystem" packaging like flatpak and so on is a response to the dizzying number of distributions and the sometimes wide differences in versions or choices of packages. It is literally a response to the sheer number of configurations and their variability. It won't go away until or unless the underlying issues are addressed.

    If people built a superior solution, it would replace SystemD just as SystemD replaced init because it was easier to manage, parallelized startup for greater speed, and managed dependencies more sanely.

It'd be really cool if it could, for example, take "teen killed by car" and translate it to "teen killed by black man with a car."
