@skinnylatte I will always remember the sandwich my French "mother" made when I was on a school exchange in high school (age 15): a huge swath of butter on a baguette, then meat and cheese (etc.). Best sando ever.

The thought of oil instead of butter in the quiche makes me twitch. Fat is not the enemy: imo portion size is (and sugar/sweeteners). I lost a bunch of weight in the past 8 months eating (healthy) full fat foods, but weighing portions.

Because of my age, I may have received a not-so-effective-now MMR vax as a kid. So, I reached out to my doc and asked about it. He suggested (and I agreed) to test to see if I have immunity; if I don't, vax me, Baby!

Btw, last time I had a similar test--to see if I'd had chickenpox and thus need the shingles vax, turns out I never had the virus (my mom lied, a lot, including about that).

Long way of saying, if you don't *know* your immunity status, get checked.

@inquiline Yeah…um…no. There is no way I would sign up on that site for anything. Instagram link?! No clear privacy policy?! NO sign they are taking protecting the data seriously. Hell, that could just be a big "sign up so the nazis know who you are” site, the way it is playing fast-and-loose with anonymity.

For the people in back, the government's new "rule" (EO) against DEI only applies to the government, not private entities, including publicly traded ones. The government cannot, constitutionally, bar a company from setting its own hiring and other corporate policies, assuming those are not violative of actual law.

So, EVERY COMPANY that is dropping its DEI programs is doing so because it wants to and for absolutely no other reason.

In my heart, I wonder why we even have borders at this point… in the USA we even have stupid state borders. Makes no sense. But my brain knows that as long as there is money and power and frightened men, there will be fiefdoms.

This morning, while the Fiancé and I were talking about how awful things are and generally feeling so, so low, someone dropped something on our stoop. We assumed it was the fabulous neighbor, since she does things like that. When we looked, it was a folded piece of paper with “thank you” handwritten on it. When I unfolded it, it was a long, printed letter from a neighbor we do not know except by sight and their dog. 1/

The note told her story of having lived in Texas in the previous Trump years, and needing an abortion, and how awful it was even before the newer ban. Then they moved here, got sober, and were hit by the Row v Wade decision. Then on July 4 of that year, they walked by our house with our first sign, and felt heard. 2/
