(I've got lots of Thoughts about this episode, mostly critical of the plot, but the acting was on point and that line is awesome.)

It's also worth noting that there's research showing that autists tend to actually follow their espoused morals consistently. The literature tends to pathologize that as "moral rigidity". Corrupt people tend to view that as inconvenient.

I've had more than my fair share of dealing with narcissists and those with strong narcissistic tendencies. This is *right* out of their playbook. Capitulation after resistance only gets you punished *more*, not less.

Capitulation without resistance (or in advance) only gets you forced to capitulate *more*.

It doesn't matter if they're clinically narcissists; their actions are indistinguishable.

I keep getting frustrated by people (neurotypicals) thinking that the pattern-matching and analysis and ethics and "oh, it's broken, I'll fix it" bits -- which they initially find super useful and interesting -- are somehow able to be "turned off" when it's inconvenient for them.

(Personally and professionally, FWIW.)
