You need more trees.

Just encountered a water moccasin also known as a cottonmouth snake in the blackberries. I decided not to be so foolish as to stop and take a photo with my phone. Just imagine a very angry-looking, stocky, black snake displaying a triangular head and posturing as if it were giving me a few seconds head start.😅

@LikeItOrLumpIt I know. My analytical mind was like, "Hm. I wonder if regular non-venomous black snakes can mimic vipers." But luckily my amygdala was like, "Move it, sister!" LOL

And by the way, happy birthday to everyone who has had a birthday or who will ever have a birthday.

@WarnerCrocker If “consumer sentiment” is how we feel about buying things, then it makes sense that the rate is down. But I have to say I don’t understand how we rate something like that. Cold calls?

This one time, my spouse had been reading a collection of Greek plays that I’d been carting around with me since college. The copy was very tattered when I noticed it sitting on the coffee table. I picked it up, held it in front of his face, and asked loudly, “Euripides?!” And that’s the day my spouse declared that I was a nerd.

@TheBreadmonkey You know what really annoys me? The way those little plastic seals on bottle tops have a perforated area but when you try to pull it off, it doesn't tear straight! Aaargh! 😡 (jk)

Life is the only way
to get covered in leaves,

catch your breath on the sand,

rise on wings;



to be a dog,

or stroke its warm fur;



to tell pain

from everything it’s not;



to squeeze inside events,

dawdle in views,

to seek the least of all possible mistakes.



An extraordinary chance

to remember for a moment

a conversation held
with the lamp switched off;



and if only once

to stumble upon a stone,

end up soaked in one downpour or another,



mislay your keys in the grass;

and to follow a spark on the wind with your eyes;
and to keep on not knowing

something important.

There is a balance between defending yourself and being a bully. One the one hand, it is important to one’s emotional well-being to stand up for yourself. On the other hand, if you never bend no matter whether you are justified in holding your position, you may simply be abusing others. It can be difficult to see your way out of this morass during difficult moments. Wishing you all the best of luck in your interactions and decisions. 🙂
