    @raphael sure, but do you want file attachments to work? Now you need a webserver setup too.

    I'd say MongooseIM is better experience than ejabberd, though.

    Oh what's that, you want push notifications for apps? Not happening.* So everyone gets a terrible UX.


    * this is solvable though. You can do like DeltaChat and have the self-hosted servers push their notifications to a server owned by the team who made the app and they can forward them through APNS/FCM. But nobody in the XMPP world is doing this.

    @polarisera when I worked at Gallup briefly (acqui-hired) someone there humble-bragged that they have so much data on citizens they can predict a poll's results because they already know what a person is going to answer.

    And then when I was supposed to be meeting the CEO as our team flew to their HQ we were informed he had a last minute meeting come up with Cheney so he flew to DC instead (this was ... March of the election year)

    I haven't trusted polls since.

    @polarisera @VioletFirePhoenix how do we communicate to doctors that they won't go to prison for providing care and treatments for these conditions, though? It's not like they'd ever pass some kind of 'qualified immunity' type thing for doctors if they won't even codify the right to privacy

    There are multiple cases of women dying after being turned away at the hospital since this shit storm was stirred up

    @joe make your own chai, totally worth it. I still have my recipe I used at the cafe somewhere ... cinnamon, ginger, green cardamom pods, black pepper... can't remember what else but it was better than any chai concentrate

    I don't know what universe this makes sense in. The Democrats ran a terrible campaign, that's why they had to emergency replace Biden and then they picked the nearest candidate not the best candidate. Putting up a qualified candidate is simply not enough.
