#ProtonMail doesn't support grabbing your email via IMAP. They do have an export tool (https://proton.me/support/proton-mail-export-tool) but it spits out a bunch of .eml files with JSON metadata.

I wrote a quick script to convert such an export into a classic mbox file, which should be suitable for importing into, say, #Fastmail

...if you were, for some reason, considering migrating away from Proton Mail.

Apropos of nothing, I’m always struck by the opening to the first story in The King in Yellow, The Repairer of Reputations.

It speaks (positively) of American racism, a conquering and expansionist Russia, a strong (almost dictatorial) American president, casual and rising antisemitism, and strong xenophobia and anti-immigrant feelings. It was written in 1899, and seemed so quaint when I first read it, long before 2016…

As far as I can tell the Proton Mail migration worked. It was surprisingly smooth, props to them.

Gotta figure out how to migrate the other vanity domain off of Google Apps for My Domain or GSuite or whatever the hell it’s called now, when my wife’s Android phone is linked to that Google account.
