Fuck "undecided voters". Makes it sound like they're so deeply mulling things over they haven arrived at a conclusion yet - but two weeks before an #election there's only two kinds of "undecided": Those who know who they're voting for but won't admit it & those who won't be voting & thinks "undecided" sounds better (see above), which is also a decision, namely that of being lazy & leave it to everyone else to take a modicum of responsibility.
@aral Yeah, I did a Zimmerfeld eyebrow raise on that one, too... why do so, so many people feel they voluntarily have to green-, sane-, reputation- & motivation-wash the powerful - are they afraid of lawsuits, or what is it!?
Another platform refusing to implement scam filtering because they make money on it & don't give a shit whose livelihoods & passions are ruined in the process.
Also, it salts the earth for their own future as a business but - per the tenets of #enshittification - they don't care about that either, just so long as they extract maximum wealth in the short term.
Inspired by this thread by @pluralistic & a conversation I had at a podcast recording earlier today: No company should be allowed to make or sell physical products unless they assume full "end of life" responsibility for both product & the company itself.
When the product breaks/wears out you take it back & if you close down you hand off the duty.
No, I don't know how to do this practically - all I know is we need to take the re- out of recycling.
@bmacDonald94 I still find it weird that an intelligent man like Popper makes tolerance so complicated. We don't need to claim anything - tolerance, by its very nature, not only allows but demands we do not tolerate the intolerant.
Tolerance is a peace treaty, not a suicide pact, and thus only extends to those willing to abide by it, which naturally excludes the intolerant.
I thought muting a conversation was supposed to stop notifications from piling up? Doesn't seem to work that way for me - so, uh, what exactly does it do, then...?
@forteller Well, not forever - but until some sort of bloody revolt overthrows him or his offspring.
One of the baffling things about dictatorships is that every single dictator not only expects to rule for life; they actually expect to never die - metaphorically or, not uncommonly, literally, because they're not sane - yet history shows that dictatorships don't endure. Each one of them thinks they're The One™️ who will beat the odds...
Surprisingly little, for one reason in particular: Neither he nor anyone on his team has an iota of grace or restraint.
The people saying this is a game-changer event for the GOP campaign assume they'll be able to capitalize on it, but they'll drive it into the ground in very short order. I mean, the FIRST THING 45 should have done was to visit, or at least address the family of the attendee who died & acknowledge their loss but, being a selfish oaf, he can't.
"[Trump] has dominated the scene for nine years already, and he and his supporters hope they can use yesterday’s appalling event to extend the Trump era to the end of his life and beyond.
The American political and social system cannot treat such a person as an alien. It inevitably accommodates and naturalizes him. His counselors, even the thugs and felons, join the point-counterpoint dialogue at the summit of the American elite..." - David Frum
What the f**k is #AI doing in a #photography contest in the first place? Not a picture contest, a photography contest - do these people not know what "photography" means?
Text prompting & then having a statistical engine poop out some pixels is about as far from actually taking a picture as you can get. The prompt "artist" makes zero decisions about composition, content, color etc. & DOESN'T ACTUALLY DO PHOTOGRAPHY!
Northbridge Boi #WeAreNorrebro - He/HimWho I want to be when I grow up: Dolly Parton. The Doctor. Any of the Mythbusters. A guitar player. Who I am now: Bad guitar player. Believer in the idea that society is a thing built by the powerless to keep the powerful in check, and that #politics & policy failing to reflect this are incomplete at best.I enjoy overanalyzing #PopCulture and building weird, practical and/or funny sh*t #maker #3Dprinting Am argumentative. It just means that I care.
