Quick tech help needed for my 79 year old mom here in the US:

She has an iPhone, wants to use Apple's email client. Has Gmail email address, refuses to use Gmail app.

She went on her computer (Windows) to update some info, now can't get onto mail or gmail app on her phone. she goes to follow these instructions:

Tap on Mail.
Tap Mail Accounts.
Tap Add Account and then choose Google from the list of email providers.
Type in your Gmail email address and password.

At the point where it asks for her password, it stalls out her phone with requesting her to verify with FaceID.

On her computer she's using Outlook I think, and having the same issues.

I had her go to Gmail.com on her browser. Duck Duck Go browser won't let her sign in. In Chrome she gets a run around with password then login to the Gmail app and 2FA with nothing sent.

@skinnylatte I usually give useful gift cards, like to grocery stores or a shop I know they go to. I grew up in a German immigrant led household, so gift giving is expected, but cash is considered tacky. But as a gift receiver I want something useful, so when gift baskets were a thing, my family knew to stuff it full of shelf stable groceries, which then freed up my money to spend on things I wanted. This then morphed into grocery store gift cards.

@RamenCatholic Hubby flat out refuses leftovers, even if they're planned overs. He has much richer taste than our budget. 💸

@RamenCatholic Hubby's on Mounjaro for his diabetes which has lessened his appetite. A few nights a week I have "girl dinner" because he's just not hungry. But because I'm planning for girl dinners, I get the fancy cheeses....

@RamenCatholic Aldi is our grocery store of choice. Meijer is way too expensive, and we'll go every couple of months for the things Aldi doesn't have, like fancy salad dressing and large size Little Debbie snacks. Kroger is as expensive as Meijer without the cleanliness, and Giant Eagle is more expensive than Meijer. We do have a Sav a Lot where hubby will go for his Little Debbie and Chef Boyardee fix.

At Aldi, I can feed both of us on $600 a month, which is a great bargain in this economy. It was only $400 a month last year.....

@RamenCatholic yeah. I mean I get it. Most of the gain is fresh produce, dairy, and meat. This month I kept it down to $550 by eliminating some of the meat. Hubby doesn't like it, but he hasn't missed it in the meals I've made so far....

@RamenCatholic we no longer have a membership, unfortunately. I went with Aldi brand, a 4 pack for $4.

@RamenCatholic a bunch. Hubby has gone through 2 boxes of tissues since the 1st. I just had to order more for pick up so he has enough to get through the month.

Today is Pippin's gotcha day! A year ago @bhtooefr trusted us enough to leave Pippin in our care. Pippin has turned out to be the most *that* cat ever: he plays with toilet paper, hangs from the curtains, wrestles with our cat Brienne, and stands up Bucky the dachshund. I can hardly remember our household without Pippin, he's such an integral part of it. Pippin will always be our kitten.

@RamenCatholic I can cook a great meal with varied ingredients that may not be as fresh as you'd like. I mean, I don't currently dumpster dive, but if we had to, I could make a meal from it.
