Looks like diversity efforts are paying off in the #WWDC23 Apple Design Awards. 😑

Funny enough, this is what Biz Stone told me in 2007 when I pitched him the idea for the hashtag (which he rejected).
I get it, but how would an LLM label #BlackLivesMatter, #MeToo, or #ArabSpring?
Unless you don't want the people to self-organize?
Love that @ivory for Mac is being featured prominently in the App Store! Congrats team!
Great to see Flipboard add Mastodon and Bluesky support through their respective federated social web protocols!
Apple's **App Store Transparency Report **is quite the report.

Apple also terminated 282,036,628 customer accounts.

@atomicpoet @fediversenews Not very inclusive.
Bluesky is #10 in the App Store's Social Networking category.
Agree/disagree with Verge's Senior Reporter Elizabeth Lopatto?

@CalmlyBallistic I wouldn't impugn @lopatto's character without evidence (but that's just me). The strength and resiliency of the social web *should* be that it allows for all kinds of different spaces to exist — some that are safe for most people and some that are definitely not.
The Mastodon network isn't monolithic and shouldn't be, and to @lopatto's point — the default Mastodon.social does give a rather stuffy vibe, perhaps in response to the rough and tumble or the Twittersphere.
@lopatto @CalmlyBallistic Ok 😅
@evan Oh, haaaa! Sorry! Mutuals 4 eva 🫶🏻

My legacy check is gone.
I'm done with Twitter.
Appears that the launch of #TwitterCoins is imminent. ?
FBI report: US citizens lost
$10.3B to online scammers in 2022, up from $6.9B in 2021, with losses from crypto investment fraud reaching $2.57B, up from $907M.
Again, crypto may be trustless but still needs to demonstrate trustworthiness in the market.
May not be new, but just noticed the Sleep Timer features more prominently on Spotify's podcast playback UI now (visible on the far right).
Also curious that it suppresses screenshots of video content, like the Netflix app. ?♂️
Yes!
"Today we're introducing Wildebeest, an open-source, easy-to-deploy #ActivityPub and Mastodon-compatible server built entirely on top of Cloudflare's Supercloud. If you want to run your own spot in the Fediverse you can now do it entirely on Cloudflare."

@evan actually, Twitter resisted hashtags for a long time. It was only when they acquired Summize that, like a Trojan Horse, hashtags found native support from the first party platform.
Who remembers OStatus? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/OStatus
Strangely the word "Laconica" came into my brain.
@evan, I hope your ears are burning. ???
