@delta I was surprised about the removal of the locks on encrypted messages. I always liked that as extra confirmation even knowing that it is encrypted.
@gamingonlinux You've got "Fedora-Based" on the "Linux distribution (combined) share on Steam over time" graph, but the line doesn't seem to be anywhere (not even at 0), is that correct?
@gamingonlinux I agree in parts. If there's an original linkable source it should be the one used. And imho if a newssite gets linked, the mods should at maximum edit the post and add the original source if it's linkable.
EDIT: "At Maximum" means here that there should not be further steps like blocking a news site or removing their link (at least not if it's not spreading malware or something)
EDIT2: But I don't use reddit anyway so what do I know :ha:
@gamingonlinux SteamVR has gotten a lot of github activity recently, and them also always making VR changes to proton makes me hope that there's a standalone steamOS based headset in the works... would love something like that!
Moving away from ProtonMail I looked at several options. Changing email addresses everywhere when I change providers seemed so unflexible, so I've set up a #selfhosted@simplelogin instance and moved all my aliases there. Right now my default mailbox points to @Tutanota but changing email providers is just changing the address of the default mailbox in my SL instance! And I can even use PGP between SL and the mailbox, if there are add-ins or the provider supports it ootb.
@sam thanks Sam! I knew what Dan does, but I didn't know about the Kickstarter. @dansup I think the KS should be pinned on your profile while it's running!
@protonprivacy@Infoseepage@molly0xfff while it may be a coincidence, the account being created as an reaction to what's been happening and being created for a person that says he's very privacy focused but CONTAINS HIS BIRTHDATE makes this an less believable coincidence. Even if it might be one. I would not care if it was for a different reason and for a different person, but just the combination of those two things really hurt your organization.
@_elena mastodon caches everything you see, that's why I've set my retention rate so low. But if you don't have a relay server connected like I have (something that "forcefully" connects you to other active servers) it shouldn't be that much. It could be that Bridgy Fed does that or that GoToSocial has something like that built in?
@_elena enjoy the search 🧐 maybe as reference: My mastodon DB with 1 user is 12GB, and my server has a very low content retention time (7 days for remote images)
@_elena hey, we could maybe learn things together! I'm currently trying to get some information with this post, but since my reach is pretty low I'm not getting any help: https://existiert.ch/@leberschnitzel/113722434263778954 Maybe some of the possible replies could help you too if you boost it 👉👈
Fedivers, I need your help! 🧵 I have ~20 years experience with Microsoft and I want to get the "same" knowledge ASAP for Linux, specifically Ubuntu based distributions. I'll go about the details in this thread and you could help me on my tiny instance with a boost to get some reach and maybe get some help! Some things I'm asking might not make sense so feel free to correct me or add other hashtags in replies :chyeah: #linux#ubuntu#help#training#teaching#knowledge#knowhow 1/5
Please boost my posts if you like them. I'm on a tiny instance and no one will see them otherwise :)My boosts don't endorse the person. They just mean I want others to see that post, for whatever reason.#boardgames #videogames #selfhosting #dockerGaming on Linux (Nobara) and super happy with the switch from Windows.Selfhosting mostly with docker and always trying out things.
