   ✨ New Monday morning routine ✨

   – run diagnostics on #YunoHost
   – manual backup, save it 2 two external drives + #ProtonDrive
   – tweak #GoToSocial settings
   – check my VPS's dashboard for resource usage

   Gotta say, it's pretty empowering to run your own #Fediverse instance.

   P.S.: #NoAdvice needed, I'm aware of #BorgBackup but this setup is perfect for a total Linux n00b like me, plus my VPS already does regular backups 🤗

     Now I need to figure out why my GoToSocial backup ballooned from 238MB (when I initially set it up) to 7.7GB (after a week of posting) 🕵️♀️

     @leberschnitzel Thanks! I need to clear the cache... I literally only posted 1 image and a handful of text posts... it doesn't warrant the 7 GB spike... unless it's caching the content by others that I see in my feed? 🤔

     I also just turned on BridgyFed, so wonder if it's somewhat related

     @_elena enjoy the search 🧐 maybe as reference: My mastodon DB with 1 user is 12GB, and my server has a very low content retention time (7 days for remote images)

     @leberschnitzel @mp thank you for the explanations. I will first try change the retention rate and see what happens. I was really surprised by the jump (280 MB -> 7 GB) in only one week...

     @_elena mastodon caches everything you see, that's why I've set my retention rate so low. But if you don't have a relay server connected like I have (something that "forcefully" connects you to other active servers) it shouldn't be that much. It could be that Bridgy Fed does that or that GoToSocial has something like that built in?
