As a part of my book about the Fediverse it might be good to write 'a brief history of the Internet' as one of the chapters explaining how Social Media and internet as a whole changed over time, along with how things like that little event in 2001 change the internet for better or worse.
What do you think of this idea? Should it be apart of the Fediverse book or should I stay away from it? Let me know your thoughts?
Just finished PewDiePie's latest Video: "I'm DONE with Google"
Going into it I was hoping that he discovered the Decentralized Web with things like Mastodon or even PeerTube but overall amazing video showing off DeGoogling, I do wonder if he will eventually discover PeerTube and things, along with if he does if he'd even actually host his own instance for his videos but I dealt it due to there's not really money in moving across to the Fediverse for creators like that.
@dansup@mastodon.social it seems that some of the accounts on FediDB have moved instances but it takes you to the old one? Doesn't this mean some accounts can 'double-dip'?
@evan@cosocial.ca it would be kind of cool to have fediverse events like comic cons, some major ones and then smaller ones I’m your local ones that might be a bit smaller.
@BeAware@social.beaware.live if so I’d suggest my app.Southampton.social instance out of the two as there’s a lot more lean way with what goes on there
@BeAware@social.beaware.live id offer by my two instances I run at the moment are rather for bikers or people from Southampton, UK but all the other requirements would be met
Are there any actually good books about the Fediverse people would suggest to read? I know I've seen one or two little books out there on the market but I'd love to know if there's some sort of Fediverse Guide or something on the market that you know of.
@BeAware@social.beaware.live Thanks, Yeah I knew about this system actually forgot you could just mention someone at the end instead of the start. Hopefully there will be better systems for this in the future as I love interacting with people on Lemmy as well as the look but I see no need for another account in my life just to post once in a while.
I've been hard at work making the users section look that little bit more pleasing for Fedicate.
I will be looking further into automating the process to update minor things such as profile pictures and other things on the database but for now the manual way is plenty fine.
Thank you for everyone that has submitted Instances & Software that should be added to Fedicate. Keep up the good work and if you haven't already check it out on https://fedicate.org
